I remember sun roofs from back in the '70s when people would add them to their customized vans. They were hot because you didn't have a sun visor to slide over them. I thought the only time they leaked was when some redneck didn't know what he was doing when he cut a hole in the roof. My father did ours and it never leaked. Its like with adding a roof rack to the Tacomas. If you don't know what you're doing, its going to leak. As for factory installed sun roofs, I've had them on all my Toyotas since the mid '90s and they've never leaked. Nor have I heard of anyone that I know with a Toyota having one that leaks. I'd say that's a testament to Toyota quality.
As for headroom, since 2020 the driver's seat is adjustable in height. It was the main reason why I didn't buy a 2019 and waited an extra year for my 2020.

I am 6'1 and have no issues. Love the sunroof. Maybe I have been lucky but never had issues with any of the sunroofs in my vehicles.

unfortunately, a tall person telling you it isn't an issue for them doesn't tell you anything. i'm 5' 10" and my head brushes the ceiling in many vehicles. you need to sit in the vehicle yourself in order to know for sure.

Don't forget, you can open the window slightly more after the "auto open" stops.

The roofs don’t leak per se. The drain hoses (at least on my old VW) can get clogged with spider webs and insect nests. Water begins to back up and by the time you notice it, the damage is done. Obviously this is more relevant if you park outside.

    Just my 2 cents

Love the sunroof on my taco. I’m 5’11” and have 0 issues with clearance. I do sit pretty far back though.

I use my sunroof pretty much everytime I drive unless it’s raining. Also great for keeping the cab cool when parked.

Leaking factory sunroofs have been a thing of the past for at least a few decades. If you want a moonroof, go for it. If you don't, don't.
