Smoked or all black TSS Senor

I may be crazy to think there's a product out there or somebody has done this themselves. However, I got a TDR Pro grill from Toyota ProShop and the TSS sensor looks nice, but I just hate the grey color of the mesh. The OEM one seem to be a tad darker in tint and is more subdued looking. Does anyone know where to get a quality looking TSS Garnish that doesn't look like cheap shit?! Or has anyone smoked theirs out and hasn't had issue with the sensor working properly?

 

I bought an OEM one from Toyota for about $50US and there’s no grey.

 

Lucky yours works at all. I bought my TRD Pro grill from ToyotaProShop as well and my TSS still malfunctions after trying the spacer/washer method as they suggested. Also 2/4 the screws that secure the lettering plate to the grille sheered off as I was turning it with screw driver so now the broken screws are stuck in the plastic grille so the lettering plate sits crooked. The screws must have been made out of plastic because I've never seen metal screws separate like that and they didn't even seat all the way in. They won't take it back and send me a new one so they obviously do not stand behind their product. Lesson learned, spend the extra cash and buy OEM.

 

Yikes! I did notice that when I was screwing on the lettering that half the screws seems secure and the others just wouldn't catch the threads properly of the holes were stripped. Thankfully I didn't have the issue you did.
I would have asked for a replacement or a refund. I don't see anything on their website stating all sales are final. They're a pretty well known distributor so Id reach out to them.

Seems like the cheapest and easiest solution would be to just tint it with film.

I checked and I bought it on eBay in 2019 for $51.30. No longer available from that seller though. Sorry.

Just make sure you buy a genuine OEM Toyota one. I tried a cheap aftermarket one first and I kept getting error codes (that was my experience anyway)

 

I did reach out to them.. they said the screws are supposed to be hand tightened which is what I did with a screw driver (don't think anyone with common sense would blast a screw into plastic with a drill/impact) so they blamed me for user error and will not send a replacement or refund even after I offered to send back the original one. They don't seem to understand the fact that the screws they sent me were defective which is what caused the issue in the first place. They obviously do not stand behind their products so therefore I cannot recommend them to anyone. Lesson learned, DO NOT buy from ToyotaProShop because obviously their quality has gone downhill.
