    Probably around 100 sets I've sold to California at this time. Nobody has failed a smog test yet that I have heard of.

    My only thought on emissions is that the stock cam gear acts similar to EGR it sounds like
    Sick! Got a few more big projects and then this seems like it might need to happen. Is it group buy only or you keep some on hand for sale?

    Finally getting around to doing mine tomorrow.

    Planning on cleaning the throttle body while I'm in there. Went to 10 stores today and never found MAF Cleaner. Took 7 stores just to find engine degreaser (my valve cover has been leaking) and throttle body cleaner. Holy crap covid supply chain interruptions are a pain!

    Finally got this done today! Really wasn’t a hard job. Just time consuming pulling everything off to get to the gears like everyone has said. Was a full afternoon.

    The cam gear bolts weren’t nearly as bad to get off as I thought it was going to be. Don’t get me wrong they were tight but not that big of a deal. I decided to live dangerously and used the 17mm JTC Mercedes wrench on my 2 foot breaker bar to break the cam bolts loose. Had zero issues, it was plenty strong and felt more secure/less sketch than my box wrench with a pipe on it. Also used it at 90 degrees to re-torque them.

    One trick I found handy was instead of trying to undo the two clips on the back of the intake manifold I just removed the 10mm bolt holding the bracket and then unclipped them once the manifold was off.

    I’m gonna let the FPIG setup overnight since that’s where my valve cover leak was originally and test drive it in the morning. Hopefully I didn’t leave a paper towel in there hahaha (almost did but caught it putting the valve cover back on).

    I also forgot to install the new manifold gasket I bought because it started raining and I was rushing. Not sweating it though, I replaced the valve cover seals and that’s what was leaking on me.

    I've done a bunch of my own suspension part replacements (uca, all shocks, leafs etc) so I kind of feel like this would be a next level up project. Seems obvious to me but still not sure - did you replace every gasket that got removed by cracking the head on this? Also, after the 3 degree offset gears are installed, is there any computer tuning that need be done? I have a second gen. More HP and better mileage, yeah. This seems like an excellent idea.

    You don't crack the heads to install these, just the valve covers. The need to replace the gaskets is about 50/50.
    You don't need to tune to use these but it helps some. Just like how installing a cold air intake and or exhaust can be done without tuning but with a tune you'll get more outta it.

    Poor verbage on my part - right valve covers only. At 100k+ miles on my truck probably smart to replace any gaskets I come across. Follow up question, might be a dumb one but I know nothing about tuning - can the stock computer be tuned, or do I need an aftermarket tuneable cpu?

    Stock computers are tunable yes. Hptuners is the tried and true method for doing so and is well documented on here. Ovtune recently released tuning for the 4.0 but he has also been banned from tw so I wouldn't expect much assistance from that platform.

    How does this exhaust timing affect engine braking going downhill in off-road situations? I have a 6MT.
