How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

I was back at the dealer today and chatted with one of the managers. He said that he's spent his whole life in the business and never seen anything like this. They had twelve brand new vehicles on the lot for sale. Twelve. The other 100 or so were all used, mostly RAV4, Camry, Highlander, and a few Carollas. They had two used Tundra and about eight Tacomas.

There was a shipment of vehicles being unloaded. Three Tacos, the rest sedans. The manager said that the Tacos were probably already sold. People are ordering all types of vehicles from looking at scheduled production lines, not just Tacomas.

 

Doesn’t suprise me. The lady at Toyota said that toyota has a warehouse full of chips still. Anyway, at least I was able to have the setup fee and shipping fee erased, which I was greatful for.

 

Placed my order 4/2, dealer contacted me 4/9 saying it was scheduled to be built 05/24. Build date pushed back to 5/27. Delivery to dealer expected 6/9, arrived 6/10. Picking up today 6/12!!!!! Total wait time was 72 days since I placed my order/deposit. Built in Mexico. (Colorado region, 2021 SR5 DCSB 4x4 AT)

 

Congrats on picking up your truck today. Your post highlights to me the significant variability in this process. Not sure what location in Mexico yours was built (Baja or Guanajuato), but mine was built in Guanajuato on 4/22 over a month before yours and I still don't have it. I'm getting close though, maybe next week. Again, congrats!

 

Is it at least in transit? I’d be losing my patience by this point. My trucks being built in Guanajuato as well so hopefully it isn’t a similar experience.

Yes, it is in transit. Left Guanajuato on 5/23 via rail movement to Kansas City (mid-west port for Toyota). Arrived KC area a couple of days ago. After unloaded from train, two port options installed, will move by truck on final leg of journey to St Louis area.

Expected to take delivery in the next 2 - 3weeks.

Super excited. I can't wait.
Dealership and salesman have been awesome throughout the whole process.

 

Down payment meaning deposit?

 

Correct, deposit, not down payment.

 

Smart to put a deposit (or actual down payment) AFTER having a confirmed allocation. Little more motivation for the salesman to hop to it.

Mine was built in Baja FYI. Thanks though! I originally had an order placed in July on 2020 for SR5 in Quicksand, it got canceled after a few weeks before it was allocated, had some unexpected health issues later in the year so didn't walk back into a dealership until April 2021. I'm just happy to finally have a Tacoma, feels like I've been waiting a lifetime. Quicksand was my dream color but I'll settle for MGM

 

I'm having a horribly hard time. It's been two and a half weeks since I placed my order, and I still haven't heard if the order has been accepted by Toyota. I have called about a dozen other dealers...two of them have straight up lied to me, one of them wanted $7,000 over sticker with no guarantee they would actually sell it to me, and the others have all been sold already. I have one I can call about tomorrow, but I'm still wondering if I should just take my chance on my order.

Has anyone ordered an Access Cab Off-Road recently?

 

@keith12 I cannot speak definitively but it appears on this thread that it can be up to a month before the dealer knows.

Personally, my salesman said they find out allocation allotment once a month.

 

I waited 3 months for an build date.
