a dealer that sells a vehicle Known or UNknown to have crap air bags

does NOT have euf butt or $$$$$$
    to survive

the person/family thereafter in an accident would have total sway

worst case scenario he would back truck to share the blame

the shape o the vehicle at trade in aint likely to pass muster anyways

I didn't know there was an air bag problem, I have traded multiple vehicles and I can count only once did the dealer do more than open the door, start it and turn on the air. My 2016 tacoma had a 12-14 inch scrape on the roof of the truck from a garage door that came down as I was driving forward that left a dent and took the paint all the way down, and the buyer looked out the window from his desk and turned around and gave me an offer without looking or starting the truck....lol

I traded a van once that had a window missing and they never looked at the van before making an offer, a couple of days after the trade they said, hey was this window always missing and I laughed and said yes, and the back seat was missing as well....lol

So I think you could probably sneak this one in there and let the dealer....deal with it...

there is a whole profitable industry sending air bag cars to 3rd world countries ( usually in containers )

where there are no regulation or penalties

the insurance companies are in on it as it costs more to fix the bags than fenders bumpers ......paint etc

dont know how a dealer sets trade in & dont check the vehicle...............................altho

some vehicles are headed for junk .........auction

they rarely trade at a loss
    they simply write them off

sad thing is U portray the the dealer stupid........................possible

yet everyone knows the dealer is in it for profit

no less delaer is always ‘ house $$$$ ‘ some of what that is..........They charged U toooooooo much on paper

    maybe U got over

    maybe U got taken

The vehicle I was referring to with the dent and paint scrapped off on the roof was a 2016 Tacoma with 75K....So it was not headed for the junk pile. I gave that example to show that sometimes, (in my experience most of the time) there is very little "checking" of used vehicles at trade in unless its obvious.

Now Carmax is an exception, those guys will find dents you didn't know were there...lol. I got the money I needed for the 2016 and traded for a 2020. Hindsight I would have waited to trade until these inflated values, but who knew. I do know that the offer on my 2020 is more than I paid for it right now...frustrating because I would sell it, if I knew what was in store with the new Tundra.

Most of the time on dealer trades they could care less what the minute details and issues are with the truck, they have a Vin, Mileage, it starts and moves right to the auction. The past 6 months things probably changed a bit since they are putting on the lot everything they can get their hands on.

Sorry to hear and see this. I know that crossing and the James River crossing well. This crossing is only 25mins from my house. You are not 4x4 are you?

Agreed. Used to live near Spicewood Springs in Austin and cars were getting rescued from creek after trying to ford moving water over road and getting carried away. I've crossed Sandy Creek dozens of times and it appears it is slightly higher but always have a backup plan if you are forced to cross.

If its working fine for now, let it dry out, cut bait, and sell it - used trucks are at an all time high right now. If you claim insurance it will show up on the CARFAX, etc. then you'll be out the value if your potential buyers are smart at all.

Might sound sheisty but it's what I'd do...

You’ve already got some good info on here from others. After drying everything out, I would lightly coat electrical connectors with ballistol. The charging port on my iPhone 8 stopped working because the little arms on the inside were stuck with grit. Sprayed some ballistol in there, let it sit, then blew compressed air through it throughly , another light coating inside after the air. Has worked fine for months now.

    WD40 would probably work too
