So... I found that one worked really well. Decided to blow through my budget and pick up another! $40 in the hole.

Seriously I should have done this as soon as I got the swing-out, they also make it slightly adjustable along with the tilt itself.

went and ran an easy trail in the Bridger mountains this morning. nothing too hard, just wanted to get the truck out and stretch her legs, and scare my roommate a bit:D.
realized that I need new CV axles as well, could probably just do a re-boot but I don't want to go through the hassle and i don't have a place really to do something that time involved, esp since I haven't done it before. ordered a new slave cylinder for the truck as well, still shifting stiff so my hope is that between that and a trans fluid change that will fix the issue. looking at CVJ axles, anyone have recommendations on which level to go with? was looking at either their 9804 R or 9804 BR. both recommended for lifted trucks, but different boot materials.

Personally I think the normal boot material is fine. As long as they're not rubbing, the regular boots will suffice.

If they are rubbing, even the more expensive fancy boots will tear. It's more important to make sure your angles aren't too severe. And to stick with OEM or reman OEM axles, the cheap parts store ones bind up easily. CVJ remans OEM axles so you're good there.

I have a Pep Boys $60 special axle on my driver's side and when I jack the front end up, that side droops down about 2" less than the pass side with an OEM axle. I need to swap that thing out.

So cheap, goes up or packs down in seconds, in the bag less space than a camp chair, almost zero weight, no vehicle drag, also portable...

Compared to the $500-700 awnings this is a deal and those can be annoying to put up or take down so they would be rarely used. Seen so many wrecked from a slight wind.

My old setup for reference, not used that much due to setup time. But more shade than most off the shelf ones today.

Pacific Coast Highway is an amazing drive. Shot these during sunset on my way to Santa Cruz.

Should hit up the Old Coast Rd trail right off the Bixby Bridge (?) on PCH. It's about a 2 mile long short trail but some really scenic lookouts over the ocean.

I’ll definitely need to check that out. Hard to find trails around the Bay Area.

You could probably find one cheaper than a new rtt. Wildernest's are another that are no longer made with a similar concept. I've seen them as low as $500.

Yeah all depends on the condition. Considering you can't buy a replacement tent.

What do you use to put the new axle seal in?

I'm about to redo mine, I put a new one in several months ago but it's leaking pretty bad again. I couldn't get it to go in with a seal driver so I just let the axle drive it in, had read that that method would work fine ...but apparently it didn't for me. Have a feeling it got pushed in unevenly.

Any reason not to use the shorter trans filter?

I took the family camping. I towed a small trailer for the first time in the Texas Hill Country. Driving up hill was not fun but the rest of the trip was.

Yeah f that. Wasn't about to spend the money on that. 3 prong puller worked perfect. At no cost from vatozone
