Meant to ask you before. If you end up taking apart the 4th gen for the engine and parts, let me know if you’re interested in selling the transfer case. My mom has an 03 v8 4x4 and there’s a bad seal on the tcase and is leaking.

I didnt take any photos, because i never do.

but @essjay drove out to my place all the way from Walnut Creek to help me install my Tcase skid.
So big shoutout to that man.

Also greased the various zerks (on both trucks)

Skipped the Gas Tank skid install and will do it another time.

    yeah pretty much.

We were talkin about going up hard brake hill lol

Wish my wheels would show up, so i could order tires and get the other front end work ive been waiting on.
It will be nice going from these 31.5's straight to 34's
With new wheels (new stance too) i think my truck is going to go from a 3 "Id hit that" to a solid 7 "id take her home to mom"

except it will drive like an overweight diabetic moose and ill be itching for a regear
    thats my fear anyways lol

I'm thinking maybe, ya, hell why not? on the driving up hard brake hill.

Unless we can find something else goin on with half of 5N01 closed.

Skid wise I think you're set for NRT. You shouldn't need a gas tank skid... unless you want to go all in on the rock pile (rock pile is a spot you can go freestyle and make it as difficult as you want, but it has nothing to do with making it through the actual trail.

Im in for whatever, going to pack pretty light as far as campsite stuff goes. Just a sleeping bag, chair and ice chest for the most part. I'll probably bring the fly rod (and the glock) just in case.

From what ive seen, not many people have problems with the gas tanks on these trucks. Youd have to be in a pretty intense rock garden or doing some hooligan shit because if the rocks are tall/narrow enough to get your tank, your driveline is in grave danger and i probably need help lol. I do keep some plastic-weld in the truck just in case a stray stick(or piece of debris/rebar/tanktrap?) gets jabbed into the tank and causes a tear/rupture in the plastic. I feel like that is the more likely culprit to gas tank damage.

That being said i bought a skid for piece of mind and need to get un-lazy and install the bitch

Gas tank skid is on my list too. I just don't really like Low Range Offroad, and that is currently the only real 1st gen option.

Skid Row says they are going to start making one, and I've kind of been holding out for that.

    niiiiice

I have a Barska one, its shit for quality but does the job. If i wasnt an idiot i would have brought my target box with me that has all of that instead of just shooting @essjay 's targets all the time lol.

We will need to get a group shooting trip organized, maybe early next year. Theres a spot in Nevada we got... for various reasons "Its good" unlimited range/freedom. we met the lease holder for the land even

If we camp at Barn Meadow, we'll literally be camping within walkin distance of a spot that's pretty close to the distance where we were at last weekend.
