Based on my testing. Doesn’t seem to be coolant temp as my voltages don’t change at all from a dead cold engine to a fully warmed up engine with the above tapered values.

Yeah. After watching mine, I’m not convinced it’s coolant temp either. If it was, once you are at operating temperature, you’d always have the same output... but I don’t. It seems to vary based on ambient temperature

I too see no change from 14.3-14.5 no matter if the engine is cold or hot

I have a NorthStar X2 battery and I’m waiting for you guys to figure out this AGM
Charging situation. I top off my battery monthly with great results but it would be nice to not have to do that anymore...

Just edit the first table with these values.
    Holds 14.3-14.5volts consistently throughout charge

A while back I mentioned I had been doing some digging into further controls on the alternator. You guys are correct that the temperature axis is not ECT (engine temp), it will be updated soon in VF Tuner as soon as I finish working out the code or find toyotas alternator patent.
It's either straight ambient temp or an ambient temp base with an algorithm for calculating battery temp. I'll know once ambient temp PID is fully reversed.

The charging control code is pretty complex.

Definitely this. We had a few hot days here recently, 90's, and my voltage usually sits between 14.6 and 14.7, and it was down to mostly 14.4.

    I’m experiencing similar.

Breckenridge CO-2 weeks ago with avg temp 30° Hitting ~14.4v avg

Los Angeles CA- current with avg temp 75° hitting ~14.2v

I just got back into VF Tuner today. The problem I had was because I failed to understand that I needed to also change the values in the top left picture with the graph "Alternator Constant - Base Phase Duty". I corrected that and now the voltage is 14.3 V at idle, which is exactly what I want.

You are saying for my truck "phase duty 1 will be 14.7." It is 76.7968 now, per your picture - should I really change it to 14.7? Seems a lot different?

Don’t change phase duty 1 from whatever the default value is. On some it’s 76 something others it’s 14.7.

Ok, I think I will have to load the stock file and see what it's supposed to be and correct that. My truck fell out of warranty 5 months ago and I don't want to buy a new alternator!

Can anyone share their settings on the newer versions of VF Tuner? Now that the tuner is in voltages and not percentages, what are people running for their Voltage Limits and Phase Duty's?
