I have not tried light, but the standard premium gets smoother at very slow speeds when my truck is heavily loaded. The response isn’t as sensitive and this is a nice side effect of being heavy. It just drives good. So if you have a very heavy truck I suggest you try it (premium octane standard throttle tune).

For reference, last time I drove onto the scales it was 5850 lbs when all loaded up. I have stock gears and my 33 inch tire/wheel combo weighs about +22 lbs per corner over stock. It’s pretty damn peppy in the parking lots when I’m not loaded up, but the effect you get on the highway is worth it. Very easy to maintain speed through the mountains in the PNW and gets good mpg. Great drivability. Even my wife noticed it was easier to drive than when she previously drove it.

When I was out that way last month Standard was my go to. But I had a FULL truck for a long trip.

We could ride from Portland to Seattle and only use 5th a handful of times. The air density out there definitely helps

I’ll be making a drive from WA to southern Utah soon. I’ll let y’all know how it does at those Utah elevations with 5,900 to 6,000 lbs total weight. To be continued…

I hope you like it hot. Southern UT is entering surface of the sun season.

I would 100% need ventilated seats and a new pair of pants each time I got out the truck

Texas is right behind UT. Except they fool you and say it’s only “94” but feels like 105!

At least when I was in OKC it was windy every waking moment of the day. Kept the 100s bearable

Yes, I am very aware. I will reach my final form of lobster red soon after arriving.

Jokes aside at least the temps will be below 100 again before I get there. I’ve also planned to camp in a couple of places where the temps won’t be the most brutal.

Have fun! It’s a wonderful part of the world. My parents live in the La Sal mountains (which are currently on fire…) and I’m down there a lot. Also be aware of the pinion Nat’s and mosquitos this time of year.

Pro tip: March and November are the times to visit SUT. Only the crazy Euro’s roll June-Aug surprised by the stupid heat.

Follow up Q; when flashing from standard to light or vice-versa, do you reco clearing the learned values? Or is it ok to leave it alone within the same "tune" except for throttle.

Does the VR tune work with the radar cruise control? or do you have to use the regular cruise control.

The trip was great, long drives and total of 7k on the truck at the end of it. But I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Wife had me pressure wash the floor last week too since I managed to get stains on it a while ago doing my suspension.

The difference between standard and light isn’t enough to warrant a LV reset. Even between premium and regular you shouldn’t need it. However if you notice any odd shifting or idle surges after driving it, reset the LV and it’ll resolve.

VR works with both radar and regular cruise. It’s essentially a plug and play tune, the only changes you’ll need to get used to is a slightly more sensitive OEM pedal. That should take one or two times driving it
