That's more than I paid for my sliders and bumper new, and the sliders were powdercoated. o_O

I guess it's the "have it now" fee. :)

My buddy's Ranger did just fine on the trails yesterday. We went through the usual areas and some areas that have re-opened this year. I also went up the rocky hill again, this time without getting stuck. :D

I'm already looking forward to the July 10/11 trail shenanigans.

Another picture from yesterday. My buddy snapped a few while I was on the hill.

4x Innovations over in Platteville, WI - I just drove there this morning to pick them up. Met the owner, Adam, and one of the shop guys. They've been in business for 15 years and make some great stuff. I kinda got lucky, as I called Thursday to ask questions and they happened to have these in stock - talk about lead times!

As an aside, Adam was originally inspired to start making his own armor with his first gen. Since starting the business it's been a trail rig project - solid axle swap, tube doors, and much more:

I tried some beer from Keweenaw Brewing Company in the UP over the weekend. I highly recommend this as a summer beer!

    20210612_182431.jpg

On Sunday, my friend with the Ranger, his family and I went to Mountain Lookout tower and also checked out a campground very close to the Pipeline. I ended up staying and fishing a bit while they headed home.

After fishing, I decided to take the scenic route back to 64. I found a deceptively deep mudpit and I was in 2wd, not aired down. Whoops!

Once I sunk in, I tried 4Hi, 4lo, locker, A-trac, and all I could do was rock back and forth about 10'. I just couldn't get up out of the hole. So, I ended up using the winch for a little assistance.

    20210613_144027_HDR.jpg

I ran the line out and doubled it back to the bumper, and ran the line through a snatch block attached to the base of a strong tree with a strap and a shackle. I sat in the driver's seat and put it in 4lo and gave it just a little throttle while winding in the winch line.

It got me out easily, and I put everything away. Then I aired down while being attached by Horse Flies, Deer Flies, and asshole ticks.

    20210606_100240_HDR_(1).jpg

FYI, if anyone goes up there, check for ticks every time you get out of the car! There were 6 on my legs at one time! It's much better to grab them while they're just walking up your leg than after they're embedded. Ask me how I know!

Next time around, bring a small jar and collect the ticks. Go to the Oxbo Tavern for the annual tick races.
