Im leaning towards the northern route because im aiming to get to Montana in 3.5-4 days. If I can save 4 hours of driving, ill do it. Then just go to the places that Id rather go to, on the way back. I'll also be taking my time on the way back.

ordered up some new tools for Memorial Day. Couldnt pass on this deal, since my grinder broke a couple of days ago..

Next all I need is a right angle die grinder and my tools will be good for a while. Maybe they will have a deal for July 4th

Me too! I have a 1/2" impact and a right angle ratchet that isnt fuel also. In the process of switching over from Ryobi.

6 quarts of Lucas 85w140 gear oil
1 quart of Mobil One 75w90 gear oil

still need to order crush washers for diffs/tcase, and a serpentine belt
Then all of it will go on, along with new idler pulleys, and oil. The waterpump/radiator hoses/aluminum radiator will wait

Still need to grease driveshafts, LCAs, UCAs, uniballs (again/more)

I still need to do my passenger wheel bearing inner seal. I was scared I had one squeaking today but I think it was just wind hitting the awning making a whistling noise.

 

The list before I head west is:

cam gears
spark plugs
fluid change - oil, diffs, tcase
aluminum radiator
silicone radiator hoses
water pump, pulleys
serpentine belt
poly steering rack bushings
check brake pads
air/cabin filters

I think my wheel bearings are good for this year. I also think Im coming up on 30k miles on them, so new ones may be in the future. The seals that I have are diff seals, not wheel bearing seals though. I think those are $30 each?

Pull rear diff skid once in a while for axle maintenance and gear oil change

 

No large chunks, good to continue.

 

Rear diff done. Now onto the front. Make sure to clean both fill and drain with a pick. Then crack the fill first, then drain plug. Im replacing my drain bolt with this one from a Lexus.

rear diff: 4.2 qt
Front diff: 1.1 qt
Tcase: 1.1 qt of 75w90

 

Why cam gears? ​

 

Increases mpg, burns unburnt fuel, more power in butt dyno, better for engine?

they are 3* retard

 

Tcase will be another day. Running out of daylight
