I'm always curious how my ride would be if I went with a street tune and not 700lb coils and icon stage 3. It's not bad as is. Just curious 20210522_133447.jpg

So far I can’t tell a big difference between the two. Although I had a different setups with the kings, I was basically stock on the front. When I added the bumper and winch the front end did drop so I installed the fox 2.5s the next day.
The fox do have the compression adjusters which I didn’t have on the kings so I’m still messing around with the adjusters.
Also, I’m still setting the preload on the fox. Right now I have 21.25”(eye to eye) instead of 21” so I’m not sure if that will make a big difference.
There’s a few variables that make this an unfair comparison, one of the biggest difference is that the fox are tuned by accutune. So far I’m liking the fox better but I was surprised that it wasn’t a really big difference between the two.

I just received my order of Fox 2.0 front and rear from Shock Surplus. They shipped the rears in a different package from the fronts. The rears were delivered by UPS on time and without issue in a box that was still in good shape. The fronts were not so lucky and I got them a few days later from FedEx and the box was pretty beat up. One of the Fox coilover boxes has a big hole in the bottom and the main box the coilovers were shipped in(they were both shipped in one large unmarked box) is banged up bad. I'm inspecting the shocks and there are scratches all over the coils and one of the coilover caps(the black things with the Fox logo on top of the shock) has oil on it.

Is this normal or something to be concerned with? These aren't the highest price or performance shocks, but this seems f****d up. Should I return them and ask for them to ship new ones? Any advice is appreciated.

It's tough to get a pic of the oil on the cap. The rest are pretty indicative of what condition these shocks are in.

I ordered the same two weeks ago from ShockSurplus. They want they buyer to pay for insured shipping for damaged or lost packages, which i thought it was their responsibility to pack the item appropriately. Their shipping insurance had horrible reviews so I didn’t pay the extra $ on it. Luckily, I live pretty close to their distribution site so it did have far to go. Even still, one of the coilover boxes looked like it was ripped and torn and re-taped. The coilover was fine as far as I can tell. If your coilover is damaged, I’d hit them up and ask for an exchange.

I bought the insurance. I figured it wasn't too expensive and I hate money, which is why I live in California.

I'll have to call them(chat?) on Monday since they're closed on the weekends. I'm still trying to figure out if the damage is bad enough to warrant dealing with the returns process or if it's just superficial. I posted pictures above so let me know!

I'd be most concerned with the oil and where it came from. Is the shock leaking oil?

I had damage to my Fox coilovers when I got them a few years ago. I contacted the company I bought them from and they immediately filed a claim with UPS and sent me another set. I had to take a bunch of pictures to send to UPS. In the end, they never asked for them back so I sold them locally. I guess it worked out pretty good for me.

Ha, I hate money too… that’s why I’m on this site all the time. Looking at your coils, I wouldn’t be happy about it, but I probably wouldn’t return it either but that’s just me. I think they will eventually see some type of road debris rash anyways. Like cmbondo said, I’d inspect it to make sure the shock isn’t leaking. That would definitely be worthy of a return.

Been trying to read up on Fox shocks. I understand they will need to be rebuilt at some point. I have seen kits of O-rings and seals are available. What I don’t understand is how to ‘charge’ the nitrogen?

Also, I haven’t actually bought any yet, just figuring things out should I go forward.

There is a schrader valve on the end of the resi.. you need a high pressure regulator that will allow you to fill to the proper psi. Don’t charge with air.

Got my foxes on… has anyone had issues with the sway bar now hitting the front supports since it got lowered slightly with the new reservoir brackets? I think it’s where my noises are coming from. Are the end links adjustable? Thanks 8F9C8898-36A7-4072-8B65-AC1211BF283A.jpg

It’s a thing. The end links are not adjustable. I changed my skid plate, that fixed the issue. Then I took the sway bar off completely. That’ll fix it too.

It may be less of a hassle to try and clean off the black marks on those springs vs deal with a warranty claim. As long as the spring powdercoat is not chipped it really shouldnt be a big deal. Oil that you are showing in this photo shouldn't be a concern since that is the top mounting plate, not the shock body. May just be some oil not cleaned up when putting the studs in. See photo below as reference.

If I play with the preload on the coilovers, how many turns (either above or below current setting) do you think I can get away with before needing an alignment? Or is it such a minor adjustment that alignment isn't necessary after adjusting the collar?

Fox knows about it. I added washers/spacers to lower the OEM Crossmembers away from the newly positioned sway bar...then 1 month later did the sway bar delete and added TRD skid plate.... and would never go back to having a sway bar.
