No kidding, some people are dirtbags and have no morals. That is pretty evident from some of the responses on this thread.

Update; So I started a claim with my insurance. I'll be dropping it off at local Toyota Dealership's service department on Monday and seems they'll work with insurance adjuster to decide it's fate.

Just another day on your typical Texas Road.

This is a Texas Road, if you wander too far to the right there is a 4' hole. Found that with my FJ40 some years back (we had 33" tires, the bottom of our butts got wet that time). With the Tacoma, that's a big nope.

Unfortunately the best thing to do is a claim. Don't be a prick and bag someone else with it.

Insurance covers accidents and stupidity, it doesn’t cover intentional damage. People drive into high water or have their cars get flooded out in rain all the time. Claims that get denied are intentional damage or fraud. Typically fresh water that reaches seats/lower dash totals a vehicle, brackish water to bottom of seats also total loss in most cases. Use car prices are high but so is salvage when it comes to determining repairability. I handle flood claims a few times a month and it’s hit or miss based on the water level if it might be totaled.

Probably a good reason not to willingly drive your truck into a creek, no?

Again, huge difference between accidentally driving into a hole and intentionally driving into a river.

By “self righteous d bags” do you mean the ones who do stupid shit with their trucks then try to stick someone for the damages, or the ones who don’t?

selling a piece of shit or potential to be a piece of shit is douchebagery. Insurance fraud is why my roof that everyone said "say you had hail during a storm" cost me 1k more for homeowners this renewal year because of that liar bullshit. Also guy saves his money for his whole life for a Taco and someone sells him the lemon with no lube for what's to come....that is stuff douches are made of. Sad :(

Question for you, since you seem to work in insurance. I am asking because I don't know -- not because I have a point to make. Where is the line between accidental and intentional? In other words, say I intended to drive the truck in some water. So at that point I have the intent to drive in water. But, I didn't realize the water was so deep, which is the accident part. In your view and experience would that lean toward accidental?

I ask for no other reason than I am curious ...

Interesting discussion to figure that out ...
