I’m getting rid of the lumpy KO2s. Hopefully I have better luck with the Coopers.

Looks like there was either a hanger or some kind of heat shield there.

There's a hanger attached to the front end of the muffler, but not on the pipe. Just checked two other trucks, and neither or them have a heat shield on the pipe at that location.

edit: Taking it to a shop to get it spot welded later in the week.

This picture makes me cringe a little. All four corners on jacks and not jack stands. I'd be sweating bullets.

every tire shop I’ve ever been to does this. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a jack stand at a tire shop.

    he’ll be fine

Jack stands are only a necessity if you're underneath the vehicle. For just a rotation or new tire install, four jacks works fine. Worst case one of the jacks fails and it comes down to the level of "floor" on that jack, but it's still not ON the floor because it's on the jack base, so there should be no, or minimal, damage to the vehicle. It's not like it's up there for an hour, you're looking at 15-30 minutes, tops.

If one of those jacks fail, the entire equilibrium of the truck fails and all four corners are compromised. Just not a risk that seems worth taking for something so easily avoidable.

LOTS of tire shops jack up trucks instead of using lifts (even when available). I've never seen a truck up on a lift at my local tire shops just for tires. They use 4 jacks just like in the picture. Not totally sure why but my guess is so they don't have to heavy ass truck tires up as high. My point though is it is very common practice.

Tire shops do it all the time. Not that big of a deal. At home I do a tire rotate with 2 stands up front and a single floor jack under the rear axle.

The new Cooper ST Maxx run pretty smooth! They will be even better after the sidewalls break in a little. I love the KO2s; but I just couldn’t seem to get 4 round ones this time.

Those lifts were full with little cars the whole time I was there. This pic was in between customers.

Bruce Wayne taste on an Alfred budget.
I worked at a tire shop in my college years, and they only used jacks for quick jobs. Until the day a jack failed and broke a guys leg while he was reinstalling a tire after a R&B. Now that tire shop will fire any employee not using stands.
