    Just got my AllPro sliders in today and I need to paint them black. Since they come as raw metal, do I still need to sand them then prime and paint or can I just prime and paint them?

    i would scuff them up a bit and wipe them down with laguer thinner before i did anything to them. it will stick better.

    yeah like Tacomaman said, rough em up and wipe em down and prime them, maybe even wipe em down before sanding too. The surface of bare steel is surprisingly dirty.

    I cleaned mine off like Tacomaman06 suggested for you to do,then used a green scrub pad to scuff it up......then I used the rubberized spray can stuff. worked awesome, looks awesome and going on three years still looks good on truck and has taken a beating in teh woods.

    Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
    get some bedliner in a can that comes out smooth and it'll basically look like paint, but hold up better

    So, do I have to use laquer thinner or can I just use dish soap and water? I really don't feel like going BACK to the store. And, storing laquer thinner in my apartment, well, the smell may offend the ladies...

    When I painted mine I ruffed them up with a wire brush then cleaned them with laquer thinner, primer then paint, Are you goin to weld yours up?
