really? I might like the attention at first, but I could definitely see it getting annoying. Imagine that on TKC80s

I don't think that bike exists... generally not heavy and comfortable for long distances are kind of opposites. You might be able to find a wrecked T7 for that price that gets most of the list?

Also 300 mile range? Or 300 miles and still be able to walk at the end?

If you go german, I'm biased but I'd say the F800 or even F700 are good at most things, but still 500+ lbs.

Like @uurx said, v-strom or wee-strom are solid options. Definitely more street oriented but'll handle forest roads well. You could always get a KLR650 and just tractor around everywhere..

Put 8 hours on the bike today and went straight out and put 4 more hours on horses ha. Then the 30 minutes home. Phenomenal day. But also my back is toast…

Klr would do all of those but its a turd.

Probably could find a used ktm 690 in that pricing and itd do the highway fine and be fun everywhere else.

Or id probably look at a t7 or ktm 790adv personally

If you are willing to go Italiano...
Plenty of used Multistrada out there and for up to 8k you can definitely find a good one.
Multistrada is an amazing dual sport

Have you considered a Triumph Tiger? I see newer low mileage 800's for around $8k on a regular basis. A 1,200 is probably out of your price range. There's also the Yamaha FJ-09 but I think I remember you saying you've owned a FZ-09, which is very similar.

    Ditto!

My favorite rides in Katy/Fulshear were on country roads! Plenty of livestock and all. I always tell the wife I ultimately want one longhorn, one horse, one pig, and one donkey….along with plenty of pups! Ha.

I'd get a Tiger before the Beamers. The new 800 is right up my alley (just missing cruise).

Pack Goats are actually pretty cool to own. Like a dog that cuts your grass and doesn't have stinky poop to pick up. The kids are funny, too ha. They'll carry a lot of weight and do a lot of work if they're raised right.

There is a NC750X if you are worried about the 500's power. Starts right at $8k.

I thought you were loving the Ducati? Tenere 700 checks all the boxes and it’s right under $10k with a msrp of $9,999:thumbsup:

Friend of mine who is MSF instructor has run them on his FJR with decent results. He liked them well enough at the price point but he has the equipment to mount and balance his own so no costs there beyond his own time. Believe he got about 8k miles out of them. Fairly aggressive rider. Cycle Gear had them for a really good price a few times.

    None... yet.
I'm talking from zero experience here but was thinking the 700 or, as cheaper option, a DR650.
