Not oem. Chase the wires back and see where they go. Maybe some kind of tracker?

You could find a wiring diagram for your exact truck model and what colored wires are being tapped into. I had a aftermarket tailgate lock that tapped into the wires under the drivers side foot panel.

    This is a total guess.
    I going with Stop/Brake light.
Only because they are blue wires. (And that means nothing) - But that’s my guess?

It’s difficult to tell, how many wires come out of it. Looks like a relay. I see 3 wires, black, red with a stripe, blue with white stripe.

You could try to unplug it, then test every function, everything that powers the tail lights, the things in the bed.

Are there aftermarket accessories? Rear headlights connected to turn on in reverse? Nothing unusual with the inverter to the bed outlet?

Its inline with the all blue wire on the drivers side under the floorboard. truck was stock from the dealer but the owner before could have had an alarm or something the dealer took off to make it back to stock.

Nice... What a great time bomb for someone else to deal with.
Maybe,Maybe the old owner left a note or drawing in the owners manual, HA

At your own risk, you could cut the heat shrink off and look inside , post a new pic.

It looks like the truck's thin blue wire was cut and the THING was spliced inline.

If your going to mess with it you may want to disco the battery.
Or you could just leave sleeping dogs lie.
How did you even find that ?

Ha, Thats how it starts... Like plumbing, You start out to replace a tiny washer and before you know it your digging up the front yard.

I going to back the "flashing 3rd brake light", makes a lot of sense.
    Good luck

Wheels, tires, intermittent wipers, better rearview mirror...
It could be a custom anti-theft device. Like a little relay that shuts off power to the fuel pump.

Im still alive i think riparke nailed it. The blue wire appears to be for the reverse camera and the truck must have had a aftermarket stereo before i bought it . factory stereo sends 6v to the camera and aftermarket sends 12v so this bucks the voltage down. I bought the truck from the dealer as a certified used and i bet they returned the truck to stock or previous owner did before trade in.
