    Yamaha Tracer GT might be worth a look. Couple of FJR buddies of mine have picked them up looking for something a little bit smaller and lighter yet still enough oomph for travel. FJR bags mount right up giving you plenty of luggage capacity when needed but come off in seconds leaving a clean look. Might have to look for a used one to hit your price mark.

    Ive had an FZ09 before. That was the only bike I've kept the longest. From 0.1 miles to 14k, in 5 years

    Then you already know that's a solid platform at least. I know a guy near Pittsburgh who bought one to go with his FJR and he and his son trade back and forth between the 2 bikes on long trips. Seems like a really decent bike from everything they've told me. My only issue is trying to avoid chain drive for the type of riding I do. Would be okay for a commuter bike for me though.

    I was jealous of all you guys and your upright sitting positions. I was thankful for the tank bag that @fatfurious2 gave me. It was nice to lay down on it while on the highway.

    I mostly owned sport bike since I started riding and still have the Buell in my avatar but there is almost no way I could ride that bike now at my current age like I could back then when it was first bought. I've even considered adding handlebar risers to the FJR to sit up just a little more than I already do. Had them on my 2007 but for some reason the 2014 seems okay without them so far even though the ergos on the 2 bikes are pretty much identical. Been using tank bags since a friend let me borrow his way back in the mid 80's. Love having stuff right in front of me where I can get to it and they make a great chest or arm rest on a long ride.My current one is set up so I can plug my battery tender lead into it and charge stuff in the tank bag on long trips and I have a small hydration bladder that fits inside it with a hose that protrudes for drinking on the fly.

    I am already thinking about my next bike :rofl:excited to have the clean SV650 in the stable for the wife to ride after she masters the Grom and for the kids to ride when they are older. They have already put a lot of fingerprints on it.
    I also didn’t realize how small the Grom was until you go to move around both bikes. It is definitely a little toy compared to regular size bike.

    If I were traveling N. America it would be on a T700 (WeeStrom if mainly on road, but that T700 is just such a great bike, possibly my next). S. America, a DR650. For sure.

    S.E. Asia would be a Serrow ha.

    Better to fly and buy than ship since each place has benefits to a different bike (in my personal opinion anyway). Less headache.

    @fatfurious2

    just to further confuse the issue…these are getting crazy good reviews. I know guys on them and they love them. Guzzi gets very little attention, but it’s an idea. There’s a lot of Aprilia under the hood

    They’re unique looking to say the least. I wish they’d have a mid size ADV demo day of every brand so I could ride them all side by side!
