Note to self: If you buy the loudest squeaky toy in the store, that is inevitably going to become the pup’s favorite.

 

I just looked up the drive for us. 47 hrs and a little over 2600 miles.

Just guessing around $1600 in gas r/t, plus an oil change.

 

We went on a trip around the U.S. when I was 12 in 1987. Mom and dad bought a new 1/2 ton Chevrolet truck, regular cab, 4x4, it was tight with my brother and parents and I. We pulled a 26' camper and were gone for 2 weeks. I remember gas was .69ish cents a gallon. I ask dad a few years ago what they spent on gas for that trip, he said $1,000

 

The press release said that it would have a 2.5L 4cyl Ecoboost making it a hybrid truck.

 

Kinda makes me sad to be trapped by fuel costs. Obviously there's fluctuations state to state, but it'll never ever be what it used to be and when you're already looking into a few grand in fuel, not amounting for food and lodging, it's just crazy how high it can get. Convincing ourselves that a roughly $3k roadtrip is okay is a hard sell.

Also considering the fact that a week is spent on the travel and not the destination.

 

Hell, I just get some snacks and soda and sit on the tailgate in the Walmart parking lot. You can see stuff you never thought possible. For under 10 bucks.
