Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

It’ll be all spread out, but I’ll add it. I’m bad about waiting until project completion to post it all up. I do it as I go.

 

I’ve been screenshotting random bits from places. Didn’t know that about the brake lines and am curious to see more about the notch for the CVs.

 

What I did was place the fill plate on the area to be cut. If you notice it’s shaped similar to the frame. I traced the outline of it to the frame and cut out the inside of my lines. Worked some more of the frame so that this fill place sort of sat into a spot where I had close to 1/4 inch clearance from the CV.

 

@81Trekker would you ever make a stock version upper and lower with the dual shock and the uniball inner and emf outer?

It’s pretty obvious once you get under there. To test fit the 934, you don’t have to seat it all the way in the diff. Just get the splines started and you’ll see if you have enough clearance. I could have taken out a little more up top to fit the provided plate in the frame but I didn’t care enough to.

 

just buy the 2.25 kit and run inset wheels... problem solved

 

I've read through this thread Twice now. I have a third gen, and I for sure want the 2.25 LT kit, 934 CVs UCA gussets and the LCA pivots. I had been looking at the RCLT from MC but I think I'll be quite satisifed with the quality of JD's components as everything in this thread is well thought out and manufactured well. I 'only' plan on running 35's but I think I'd still be interested in the inner fender wells once they've been developed for the 3rds just for the strength upgrade alone. Steering is probably my main concern planning all this out. The slide rack looks great but I understand about the oil filter location. I actually was running the Baxter performance remote kit for awhile but took it off due to a leaking hose. I've got their spin on conversion installed right now as I detest the cartridge filters. Not sure if the remote kit provides enough room for the slide rack though. MC has their "Mar rack" using the 200 series LC rack. That install doesn't look too bad. I just wonder how that compares to the JD fab slide rack.

 

ah this is good to know I ran it off position 1 not position 2. Makes sense why it seems long as F. ha

 

Depends on the line you get and how long it is. Mine were only meant to be ran from position 1.

 

We had of the lines that come in our kits go from position #2. This eliminates the multiple connections and makes for much cleaner brake routing

 

I ended up clocking the upper frame mount 90° so it will clear the uca gusset but is also in a natural resting position.

 

Yeah I didn’t know any better when I did my front, but since I’ve seen it both ways. I’d say position 2 is better with uca gussets, otherwise it’s user choice without them.

 

What’s the purpose of this and how does it install? Specifically this little additional piece. When I bolt it into the truck with it, the coilover can’t move freely.

When I bolt it in without it, it seems to work like intended.

 

My guess it goes on top if you’re not using the bypass mounts. To help strengthen the top hat between those two bolts.
