The will politely tell you to pound sand, basically. My 2009 was coated Mar 2019 and was peeling, cracking, and rust forming underneath in short order. Told them to take a look at it when I got a transmission service done summer 2020. Said there was nothing they could do about the coating and they would do nothing unless there was a hole in the frame. This was the same dealer that did the coating too.

Unless there's a hole in the frame they ain't doing nothing about it.

I guess the question is whether or not I should the dealer or my mechanic inspect the truck…

If you have a good relationship with your current mechanic I wouldn't go somewhere else for state inspection. That little sticker has a way of pissing garages off for some reason.

My mechanic is a rarity; He’s honest, his rates are affordable, and he does the job right the first time!

My dealer did agree to look at the truck though; I’m gonna get the frame coated by a third party if the frame isn’t perforated.

If they come with the truck OEM they are wired so they only come on with the highs, nothing else. There is a way to wire it that way even aftermarket. I myself leave those and my running lights on all the time (truck doesn't have the DRL selection on the stalk FWIW). MA doesn't care about that though we do suck out loud in general with stickers.

Re the frame inspection..that is totally independent of the state stickers. So they will not care if your truck passed that inspection recently..they only care about looking at the frame and nothing else.

I would go to Pete when it's due for a sticker as you normally would and then deal with the frame inspection by Toyota when that time arrives..you'll be fine with that.

I've heard of Fluid Film and Woolwax both being used for protecting your frame if it does pass. I plan to get mine done with one of those after I get the new frame.

    Hello friend,

I would strongly recommend biting the bullet and either remove the remaining Noxudol 300s (the shit Toyota put on your frame) yourself, or pay to have it done right, before you put any other coating on. I absolutely guarantee that the dealer that did the CRC with Noxudol followed neither Toyota's instructions nor the coating manufacturer's instructions for application. Doing so would have cost too much money in labor, as it requires complete removal of loose rust, washing, and degreasing before application.

They didn't do that, obviously. As a result, pockets form under the coating and once it starts to go, it continues to flake, peel, and spread rust underneath until there is no more metal, or it all flakes off, taking anything else applied on top of it along for the ride.

I am in the middle of wire wheeling my entire frame down myself for the same exact reasons, and have been down the entire dead-end road addressing the issue with Toyota all the way up to "Executive Customer Service".

If you are concerned about the fog lights being an issue when the dealership does the inspection, just temporarily disconnect them.

And maybe you can answer me this; I ordered 15 quarters of Mobil 1 10W30 full synthetic high mileage oil for my truck on Amazon; It was supposed to be here tomorrow...

I went to check on the status today, and it's telling me that it made it all the way from Kentucky to the UPS warehouse in Horsham, PA and was even out for delivery (so it was set to be delivered a day early), but now it was declared undeliverable less than 10 miles from my house and brought back. My dad thinks that the seller didn't package it correctly to hazmat specifications and some "by the books" bureaucrat decided to bring it back to the Horsham UPS facility. I am getting a refund, but what really pisses me off here is that it was like six miles from my house and some letter of the law bureaucrat brought it back!

    :annoyed:

And it was a hell of a deal too; 15 quarts of Mobil 1 for just over $71!

Antique truck show in Macungie; First time in two years because it was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID...

In 2019, I had to go on Friday instead of Saturday because I was still working that shitty ass car detailing job; Saturday is by the far the better day to go because more people are off work and there are more trucks!

June 18th and 19th; Your truck is too new though and they won’t let you show it unless they consider it unique and give you special permission…

The red 1991 long bed would probably get in though!

My cousin bought me a lava lamp for Christmas in 2020 and the package was lost in transit; How you lose a fucking lava lamp is beyond me, but my cousin had to really fight for a refund and then ended up paying more for a replacement since they weren’t on sale anymore…

Advance Auto Parts in Warminster has the exact variation I'm looking for, Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 10W30 High Mileage in the 5-quart container; What sucks is that 10 quarts costs at the store costs the same as 15 quarts on Amazon (slightly more if tax is included)!

    :annoyed:

I'm going to buy it because I want this specific motor oil for my truck and BJ's (where I've been getting oil for years) doesn't have this exact type of oil. Luckily, I'm not the type who cheaps out on vehicle maintenance!

    @Taco critter

My truck has been sporadically burning oil (roughly a quart every 3,500 miles), and a friend and I checked the coolant reservoir today; This is what we found…

    B3EC9281-619C-4D0B-809E-33844AEF8CF9.jpg

I’m getting different opinions, that it could be the head gasket, maybe the rings, or possibly that it’s not oil at all and actually transmission fluid. What does everybody think?

My truck is a 2010 with the 2.7L and a little over 134K miles; The truck runs and drives great, there are no lights on, and the engine does not run hot even in 90F+ weather with the A/C cranked.

    PLEASE HELP!
