unlock all doors by pressing "unlock" once?

I hate having to push unlock twice to unlock the passenger doors on my truck. Does anyone know if there is a simple way to unlock all the doors by only hitting the button once?

sometimes im in a hurry and forget to hit it twice and end up letting my passengers/wife stand around in the cold a little longer... haha

well if you must know...I had unlocked my truck this morning and went to start it. after a few mins of warming up I grabbed my 7 month old son in his car seat and headed outside to put him in the truck. got around to the back passenger side door and it was locked...had to go back around to the driver door and unlock the rest then go back to the rear door on the other side and get him in...it was 30 degrees and windy this morning

 

Yea it's a pain in the ass!!! WTF. Why would they make it this way in the first place? Anyone know??

 

My guess is in case you're a girl and there's sketchy people around they can't jump in. Sub'd for the answer also.

Its so automatic for me to hit the button twice, I'd feel weird only hitting it once

my first taco had an after market alarm and would unlock all the doors just by hitting it once but the passenger doors had like a 2 second delay after the driver door unlocked.

I remember when a person had to stick the key in the door lock to unlock a door and then once in the car had to reach over and unlock the passenger door. Man it's tough pushing a button twice.

 

I've looked at the wiring diagram for the locks before. I would think that all you would have to do is find the power locks module behind the dash and jumper the outputs for the driver's door and passenger's door together. But I seem to remember there being a set of switches in each lock assembly that would show the lock module whether the doors are locked or unlocked. Not sure if the module will freak out if it sees the passenger door unlock when it's sending a signal for the driver's door only. I doubt it would hurt anything, but might freak out and add some weird feature you don't want. If it were me I would try it.

 

Amazing how quickly I get annoyed when I drive that kind of vehicle now!

being able to only unlock the drivers door has been very useful sometimes...like ifu are trying to keep other people from getting in the truck with you. im sure they do it as a safety measure. i think my moms 4runner does that too

 

same thing with how they auto lock.
-i hate it when i unlock the doors, forget I have to take books and a laptop the the car, go inside grab them, and as im reaching for the handel, click.....it relocks the doors and i have to put all the crap down.

 

i hear you. i've had a few things like this happen where i had to walk back around and unlock it even though i thought i pressed the buttons enough times, haha. some cars you can program the signal for lock/unlock, and also the locking pattern.

the automotic lock is somewhat annoying too. i've had it lock on me just as i was going to get into the vehicle.

the last two 4 door cars i had with factory remote power locks would unlock the front doors with one push, and unlock the rear doors with another, out of the box. this toyota setup is unique from what i'm used to.

 

someone take away his remote so he has a reminder when he is too drunk to be in the drivers seat

kid at my school is now paralyzed from the waist down b/c of a drunk driver. there goes his football scholarships.

 

I wish all my doors would unlock when I stop. I keep my briefcase in the back seat, and constantly have to unlock again once Im out of the truck.

 

If you look at the passenger door when you go to start it's pretty obvious if the door is unlocked or not.
