I agree with TacoMike. However, I would just take it to a trans shop and let them know your symptoms. Could end up being something simple and cheap.

For what it’s worth, I just got a quote today for a bench build (rebuild with trans out of the truck) and it was $1300. A used trans won’t cost near that much but it will be “used.”

Yep! Just collecting parts for a SAS. The IFS crossmembers are welded back up, but I'll never trust them. Quite a bit of other welding that needed be done to the cab. 3 of 4 floor corners were basically shattered haha. Glad its a trailer queen these days.

 

What’s a good exhaust option for the 3.4? I’ve seen a lot of magna flows I think in the past.

 

It actually went pretty smoothly except for the part where I cracked the valve cover.

I need to get a better torque wrench

On the plus side I was pleased with how clean the engine looked underneath. I was a bit intimidated when I started and I didn't finish until 4:30 in the morning but hey I drove the truck to work today and so far no leaks. The last time I removed a valve cover was for an old Honda civic back in 2009

 

how the hell did you do that? Only supposed to be like 9 in/lbs of torque. Like finger tight on those bolts.

 

how many miles on that engine?

I think it had a slight crack when I started but I know I over tightened it. I was having technical difficulties with my shitty cheep torque wrench. The locking nut loosened its self and I was adjusting the handle with out realizing it. I really didn't go crazy tight I think 12ft lbs is what I was aiming for.

At least now I get the pleasure of doing it all over again once I get my hands on a replacement valve cover. Hopefully it will be a little less time consuming the second go around

The passenger side wasn't quite as clean but it still looked pretty good

Okay but seriously. It's not ft/lbs. It's in/lbs. A standard torque wrench doesn't go that low you need a separate one for inch pounds usually.

It's really just hand tight. Super light but important to get them all equal for the gasket to work properly.

Not trying to be a dick just want to make sure you didn't read the spec as ft/lbs.

 

I haven't posted here in a while, but I put 35s on my truck today.
