There's some apartments that appear to have some cameras facing this way. We are trying to contact them and see what's what.

I'll see what the insurance says, first time dealing with insurance in Oregon.

Heading out to explore Utah for the next two weeks, wanted to see if any of you guys have any recommendations or anything. We’re going to be fishing up in NE Utah for 4 days, so no need there as I used to live there, but then 4 days in the Moab area and 4 days in the Kaibab National Forest about 20 miles north of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Anyone have any cool routes, trails, eating spots, etc… that you want to throw out there?

I'm not sure if this is anywhere near your planned route, or if you will have any kids with you or if you're even into this kinda thing

There's a wildlife park in Arizona called "Bearizona" https://www.bearizona.com/

It's in Williams, AZ - pretty cool safari-esque wildlife park, quite literally driving through the bear/wolf/bison (plus more) enclosures

Nice little restaurant bar there too, and they don't get on your ass for walking around with your unfinished beer (at least no one told me off hahaha)

Worth checking out imo if you're nearby, but pretty small and idk if I'd go so far as to say it's worth driving 280 miles out of your way to see

We will have the kids (5&2) in tow. I don’t think we’re going any farther south than the North Rim. I know there are dozens of Forest service roads in Kaibab that lead to some pretty cool canyon overlooks without crowds, except maybe a couple other off road rigs.

I’ll do my best to avoid that lol. Thinking of stuff like onion creek, long canyon, Shafer trail, Gemini Bridges.

Going to base camp at Deadhorse Point State Park.

I just did 12 days down there with my wife and 5 year old. It was amazing. We really enjoyed capitol reef and escalante.

There is a fairly easy dirt road loop on the east side of Capitol Reef off hwy 24 that is comprised of Hartnet Rd and Cathedral Rd. It's about 45 miles and you could do it on a day. We camped on the blm land on the east side of the loop and didn't even hear another vehicle. Google cathedral valley loop in capitol reef for the details. And you get to drive across the Freemont "River" (a great place for kids to play). Honestly camping by the river would be pretty fun with the fam.

Hwy 12 from Torrey to Escalante was a cool drive for being hwy. Actually one of the coolest highways I've ever been on. Pizza in escalante (only 1 place) was a nice treat and we hit a hotel with a good pool there as a treat.

We did our grand canyon in Toroweap and Parshant. The campground down by Toroweap looked cool but we didn't do the Backcountry/campground permit in advance. We camped 800 ft above the river at Whitmore canyon (probably obscenely hot by now).

We camped/hoteled/relaxed and wandered. If I didn't like water so much I'd consider moving. Drop me a line if you want anything more specific or photos. Its taking all my restraint not to bomb this thread with vacation photos.

Edit: Looking at your points I'm guessing this route is a bit west of your plans.

    Truck update:

It was not the garbage truck, but a construction haul/dump truck. I got the video from the apartments across the street and found the truck that hit me parked a few blocks away. Turning it all over to insurance tomorrow morning. I'll post the video once I figure out how. Let's see how long it'll take to get my truck back.

You might still be able to find a piece of a tail light or a parking sensor out on the street.

Awesome info man! Utah is probably the most beautiful state I’ve ever been in, and I’ve only been in the North & Northeast, so I have tons more beauty to explore down South. I kind of decided to break it up into 3 separate 4 day vacations while there since that gave us a little time to explore each area. The Ashley National Forest & Green River in NE Utah is the first 4 days, which if you haven’t been up there you are cheating yourself (I’m especially looking at our fishing degenerates here) because it’s one of the coolest places I’ve ever been.

The second leg was chosen by my wife sort of. Her only request was to go to Arches, and we have accepted that it with be a shit show like every national park in the summer months. The nice thing is that is only one day, and I’ve been dabbling more and more in photography lately, so I’m down to deal with crowds for a hot minute (literally the temps are in the 103 range while we’re there. That leaves 3 days to explore all the cool stuff within a few hours of that area, which sounds like it has ample cool stuff to see.

The last 4 days we are camping at a forest service campground in Kaibab National Forest about 10-15 miles North of the North Rim. I’ve always wanted to check out the Grand Canyon and so has the wife, so win/win. The North Rim seems like slightly cooler temps, pine trees and there is an amazing amount of public land that almost goes to the edge of the canyon if you are willing to explore, so I guess we’ll find out.

From there we have 4 days to get home, so not sure where we’re heading, but we have time to wander.

Sorry for being so long winded guys, just got the “it’s only a couple days away” excitement going.

I'm heading down to the Green in a few weeks. The fishing gets obscene at times. I've caught more 20+ inch rainbows and browns there I couldnt even take a guess on how many.

It’s definitely a trade off. Spent 2 summers there in my 20’s and the fishing can be crazy. The Green has more fish per mile in the first (A) section than any other trout river in the west. The downside is that there are soooooo many boats in Summer. I’m going to be down on the C-section about 20 something miles down river from the dam. If you are getting a guide try to fish the B or C sections, fewer fish but they are generally bigger and more wild, plus the scenery down in swallow canyon is friggin’ awesome!

If that’s all stuff you know from going there then disregard lol

Haha I only fish the A section-on foot. Maybe one day I'll get a guided trip, but I can do a lot for the dough they charge for that. I have more fun by myself. The first time I went was in 97 I think , been going every summer since except once or twice. Can't wait to be back again.
