Thanks! I wish the 911 was the daily. I stole my dad's F250 while I tub'd my truck.

Okay, because I was gonna say… that’s literally my “goals” right there. 911 is what I’d like to have as a daily. I could afford right now, but I’m focused on my other goal of getting a house with a shop so I’m keeping my monthly debt to income ratio wayyy down. Plus the housing market is insane right now. Which is both good and bad for me lolol

I feel that. I've been debating on delaying my SAS by a few years just to buy a place for myself. My dad's garage and car collection is definite goals

    Ok... so question.

How hard is it to swap an elocker axle in to a nonlocked truck?

Swapping the whole axle assembly is easier than swapping diffs. The cut out for the diff is different on the e locker version compared to non e locked.

I mean, if you're swapping out the entire housing, it shouldn't be all that hard assuming it has the same gearing. Or are you wanting to keep the housing and just swap the axles? That would be harder.

Edit: @cbechtold beat me to it.

I'm definately talking swapping the whole axle. (I should have specified that).

I'm really more wondering about problems with harness etc, maybe ABS issues, parking brake etc.

Is the parking brake and ABS pretty much plug and play? I know the elocked housing will have provisions for ABS.

ABS just adds a couple sensors where the tone rings are. Otherwise everything is quite similar. Doesn't affect ebrake (or actual brakes) at all.

How bout the wiring? I'm assuming I want the elocker harness from a prerunner so it's independent of the 4wd stuff that's already in there... thinking that would simplify things.

Or is it just, basically, an on off switch?

It's more than an on/off switch, there are six wires (as I recall) to the elocker. And fewer (only 4?) wires on the switch. So you need more than just the switch even. Get as much of the wiring harness as you can, as far forward as possible.

@IDtrucks did this a while back I believe, probably has more details.

And, this is sort of what you're up against with the wiring. May vary slightly from 1st to 2nd gen, but I would suspect, not by much.

I'm all about manual... but DAYUM... They are sure proud of that thing.

I can't imagine the elocker harness would be over 400 bucks out of a totaled Prerunner.

Now, the last part of the equation would be to get the tabs for the control arms and the spring perches for coils.

Trying to see if this will work in my kid's 3rd Gen T4R

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.
It'll bolt right in no issues.

All e lockers have abs on them so the sensors will bolt right in.

Brakes can vary year to year but easily dealt with.

Wiring is easy just do a switch. It just needs 12-14v to the activator. The stock harness just has more wires because it is looking for signal from being in 4lo and to activate the dash light. Which wouldn't be hard to also wire up from a basic switch.

    I wouldn't waste 400 dollars on a stock harness. That'd be insane.

would like to see a detailed pic of what you have mounted on the A Pillar of your truck. What's almost seen on the left side of this pic.
