Totally get that. Just was asking being you might as well change it and see if that solves the issue, being its happened to other people I would think thats the issue

Let me know how things go!

    OK.

    Stop.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING DRASTIC. The lil 2TR is one hell of a bulletproof motor and HG issues are few and far between.

Drain and clean the overflow rez, super easy. Drain the radiator - super easy, lil valve on the bottom of the rad (dont worry about going through the process of draining the block at this point). Fill the rad and rez back up with some Valvoline Zerex Asian (a gallon from walmart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Valvoline-Zerex-Asian-RED-Vehicle-Antifreeze-Coolant-1-Gallon/49660461). Burp the system - simple as running with the rad cap off to get the air out.

    Drive.

Ill bet you dont have oil in the coolant, just some old sludge in the rez tank.

I had 2nd gen and I’m much happier with the 1st gen! All depends on how good the price is! The 1 St gen truck will be only going up in value.

Not something I considered, being a new truck and all you figure there'd be sludge in the header tank?

    1st Gens are great trucks.
But it won’t get the MPG your current truck gets.
And you might want to take in consideration, if you are still doing DoorDash and deliveries, the Manual Trans might get tiresome.

Personally, I think the 1st in question is a great truck.
I guess it depends on what you need?
Do you need a bit more power and 4x4?

Also, do you know if the timing belt has been done on it?

These are thing you might also consider.
Since you’ll be fixing your current truck, would you be ok with spending some money on the 1st Gen if you purchased it?

I wish my truck was manual. Unfortunately, they didn't come from factory that way for the double cab. Been driving stick shift every since I got my license 20 years ago. I love to drive manuals. All of my other vehicles are manuals. In fact, I commute 2.5 hours a day in bay area traffic in a manual. I don't even notice myself shifting. It just becomes a part of you. I say do it.

Nope. 1st gen are over price, especially the DC. If something happens to my 1st gen I'll probably go with a 2nd gen DC.

Literally just found out that my friend totaled her Subaru and doesn’t have a whole hell of a lot of money to buy a new car so looks like she’s keeping the Taco for a while…

Yeah, seems like it, but obviously buying this truck is off the table for a while since she doesn’t have any other form of transportation…

I literally just found out minutes ago that my friend totaled her daily driver 2013 Subaru and she isn’t exactly rolling in cash, so buying her only form of transportation is out of the question right now.

no. Sell the second gen and buy a 1985 Hilux. You can find 4 door versions cheaper than 1st gens. Stock with solid axles and a diesel.

The price WAS very good; Unfortunately I just found out that my friend totaled her primary car, and I know she’s not exactly in the Fortune 500, so buying this truck is gonna be off the table for a while since it’s her only transportation.
