I'm guessing you've never had to service your Reverb or the bleed the hydraulic line. A basic service starts at $200 and goes up from there, and goes up a lot if the hydraulic line needs to be bled.

I guess it depends on the definition of cold. I'm a pretty fair weather rider in the winter and being in the PNW it's not usually too cold. Low 40s is probably the coldest I normally ride. Usually skiing in the winter. No issues at those temps that I've noticed.

The older ones had major issues no doubt. Although pretty much any other dropper did too back then if it had an air spring and hydraulics inside. Their old reputation lives on, but I'm not sure it's warranted. I've been pretty impressed with mine. Still, I don't think I'd design a dropper with hydraulic actuation.

No, I haven't, and that was kind of the point. It has needed zero maintenance in 4 years of use. But mostly I was just messing around.

Edit: I also think your costs are highly exaggerated. They also provide full rebuild instructions online. (again, wasn't actually trying to convince people they are the best choice)

I think you are one of the lucky few. My last Reverb, revision b or something, one of the new ones, lasted about a season and a bit of riding before it started getting spongy. So you have to turn them upside down, compress them, to get the air out of the system. And when I brought it in for service it was going to be several hundred dollars in labor and parts to replace all the bushings. So I bought my One Up for $180, a fair bit less than the price of the service, and the One Up uses cartridges that you just replace for $60.

The problem I'm having with my cable, I think, is unique to my bike bike. A Medium Nomad V4 (with a 180mm Dropper) where the seat tube splits to go around the bottom shock, so there is very little room for the actuator on the bottom of the dropper and it tends to collect moisture and dust (gunk) right where the cable attaches to the dropper.

Alright so I've got about 100 miles on the new SDG Bel-Air saddle and all taint and chaffing issues have vanished. I was starting to get lower back pain so I lowered the post about 5mm and that was instantly gone as well. Just figured I'd report back!

Did you sell your Reverb? If so, for what price? I also replaced my Reverb with the One Up. The Reverb was spongy, but I never had it bled, so I don't know if it needs to be serviced. I have my Reverb for sale, but I don't know if it's actually worth anything. If nothing else, a buyer would have to bleed it when installing.

Depending on what went wrong with the reverb it could be a bleed or a rebuild with new seals. My bobbing issue didn't go away with a bleed. They also make cable actuated conversion kits for the reverbs.

I've given away two defunct reverbs. The rebuild process is somewhat intensive and in my experience those savvy enough aren't willing to pay and then fix the post. I also hate clutter and like seeing things reused so I give a lot of shit away
