One question: does the need for a master cylinder replacement on a 3rd gen depend on if you have a sport versus off road/pro? More details as to why this is an option is what I mean.

if you can get a parts diagram it should give you the answer if ORs and Sports have the same MC. @Shellshock can you answer this?

Pretty sure they are not the same, due to the braking involved with CRAWL. That's what I meant, wasn't sure why this is an option to do the MC. I don't want to muddy up your build thread and this is off on the horizon if I end up doing it at all so I'll keep reading. I appreciate the response and write up sir!

I think Crawl is only for auto trans, but I'm sure others will chime in

All good, I'm a caveman doing all this to my truck, I'm surprised it still runs.

I believe the only reason @su.brat replaced it was for the additional metal bits. I think the MC is interchangeable on 2005+ (and fjs)

crawl is only on the auto. MT gets ATRAC. There’s a brake booster for these systems on the OR / PRO and the MT have dedicated clutch reservoir instead of a shared one on the sports

thanks. the catted dump tubes, solid motor mounts, and a revised alignment were completed yesterday. it's a whole new truck again and I'm literally feeling it all out relearning how it drives. it's a big step to being more direct, especially with the throttle and power delivery with the tubes & mounts.

Looking forward to a review of the new parts! I wish you had done them one at a time, so as to get a clearer picture of how each piece adds to the puzzle, but I know that's just not always time/cost efficient.

which parts are you referring to here? the motor mounts? i did most of the work in stages with the whole project but I'm not sure how clear it is here. maybe i can give you more info?

Dump tubes: was there a noticable difference? Your new Y-pipe went in too, correct? It might be hard to tell witch part was more of a leap forward.
Motor mounts: how is the feel at idle? Do they tighten up the floppy shifter? To what degree can you feel the power through the drive train?

    got it.

i did all the exhaust in stages so each step is super clear, no confusion there. the catted dumps are a big change even with all the exhaust that was done already... everything after the front cats was custom and more than a year in the truck. first, they opened up the sound to be much more throaty and no more v6 buzz. second, mid and high range rpms are flowing more, you can hear it and feel it easily in the butt dyno. the sound was a bit muted at 3k+ by the stock front cats, and although it's not droning really, it's a sharper sound on the highway that i don't like so much. i also have two 3" resonators in series to kill drone from before, and i don't like that much open volume in the exhaust line, so this is a good opportunity to tighten it up... i ordered a 2.5" Gibson 18" muffler to replace the second resonator, the Spintech muffler, and a 2-3' section of 3" tubing. so it'll be just one 3" resonator, 2.5" tubing in place, and the Gibson, also open flow, to take up the second resonator's place and deepen the tone... hopefully. Gibson is in the mail. no codes replacing the front cats btw, but i have the dump tube tune which handles it if it even came up.

    the mounts..
these are a massive change to the personality of the truck and the power delivery. i can't speak for other Tacomas since I've been on a reinforcement mission since the beginning, but on my truck the power delivery to the wheels is significantly improved and that was clear straightaway on the first drive. it likes to spin tires in second now like it has in first. but really the two biggest driveability changes are on the highway above ~2800rpm where the delivery is immediate and surges the truck forward on my tune, and the clutch engagement which is now one more good step toward directness & clarity. shifting and clutch modulation, which was great before, is now better and more predictable. i had them re-torqued yesterday and they are just breaking in now, so going from hard metallic feeling to not harsh at all, which i noticed most when the starter engages. the poly bushings are now breaking in which really makes them easy to deal with. I'm super happy with them.

any other q's let me know. thanks for checking it out.

    Good info, thx.
I got my exhaust on yesterday: eliminated rear cats, better flow path and free flow resonators and muffler. I'm waiting on Matt to get switched to VF, so in the mean time I'm gonna try the 2.0 dump tune.

Tubes and mounts are in my future at some point and playing with VF soon, I hope.

I'll keep an eye in here for inspiration.

awesome, if you post anything about your work I'd like to see it, share a link here if you do. good luck, really interested to see what you're doing with the exhaust, tune, and the outcome.

You need to do the fj pedal swap and then tell me how difficult it is :)
