Do you know if I were to just upgrade the Tundra master cylinder if I would still need to extend the actuating rod, or is that just on the cab side of the booster? Looks like there are a couple kits on the market that are just for the master cylinder and not the booster. I have some extended braided brake lines laying around I can easily make work with a couple adapters I can order online for the step down in line size.

Thanks for the insight here! I really appreciate it, not a lot of folks have done this mod so been doing a lot of research on what to do here. Thanks!

I’m pretty sure the Tundra master cylinder needs the Tundra booster. The rod that needs extending is the one attached to the booster on the inside of the cab. It’s really not that hard, either a bit of welding or just use an m10-1.25 coupling nut to extend it. Honestly the coupling nut makes the most sense. This one will work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00Z9N42JI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I did this swap recently here post #60 and #62

I referenced this thread here a lot.

It’ll help, I barely have to press the pedal to stop now.

Thanks! I ended up getting a MC and Booster off a 2017 Tundra off ebay so going to try and tackle all this, just hope it will come with the check valve as there wasn't a photo of the actual unit I ordered and had to order the MC separate from the booster. Looks like a fun little project to get my BBK having some more response. I really appreciate all the insight, I read through all the threads on this so I think I should have some my head around it now (I say that now). Its been quiet the learning curve already trying to source parts for the braided lines I have that I was planning to use for this but may just end up bending some lines saying they are so cheap.

When you are putting everything on the truck how did you bench bleed the MC? I know I am going to need to but curious if you got caps or what not to try and keep brake fluid in it as you install it (obviously will still need to bleed everything once its in and connected).

I bent some 12” generic pre-flared lines to squirt the brake fluid back into the reservoir. .

I originally ordered a cheap Dorman MC bleeder kit along with my Tundra MC off RockAuto. It came with plastic barbed fittings to screw into the MC outlets but only one with the proper thread pitch. I had to buy another kit to get two properly fitted fittings but they also had black vinyl line in the kits so I went to get clear tube after that so I could see the bubbles, that bit probably was not necessary but I prefer it. What a hassle either way.

The pre made lines like what @billygoat used sound like a far easier and less frustrating option.
