I’ve recently bought a reman motor for my truck with 92000 on it and the head already blew after 70 miles it’s leaking pretty good, should I rebuild the old engine or the one with 92 thousand on it? I know the history of the original motor but not the motor from the remans shop and input would be much appreciated don’t really know where to go from here in 4600 dollars in the whole and still no working truck. I swapped the motors because the original had a blown head gasket with 245000 miles.

After this head gasket scare with my truck, I definitely do not want to put remanufactured motor in my truck after reading this!

The first thing I'd be doing is calling up whoever sold you the motor.

Sounds to me like he bought a "used" motor, not a "re-manufactured" one. Big difference.

Not only this, it's just a vague title and everyone has to click to even see if it's something they could potentially help with.

Something like "Reman'd motor blew after 70 miles, what to do?"

and what I do is edit the title of my threads accordingly; Like, for example, yesterday evening I was convinced that my truck had at a bare minimum a leaking head gasket. This morning, after talking to somebody I know who is a Toyota master tech, I am 99% convinced that is not the case.

Did I tell you what happened? My friend totaled her 2013 Subaru, which had only 60K miles on it I might add, and the Tacoma is her only means of transportation for the time being; She hit a pole and all of the airbags deployed, but luckily she was not hurt and she had full coverage on the car! Not gonna push the issue until she replaces the Subaru, and besides, it looks like my truck does not need a head gasket after all...

She needs to let us know if this is a "Reman" motor, or a salvage yard motor.

There is a warranty but the company doesn’t hold to there word and redirects my call or just hangs up, basically can’t rely on them doing anything for this motor sadly I didn’t do my research before hand

The original motor just had a leaking head gasket and I just thought it would be a better option to get a reman but it back fired on me could have a cracked block because of how bad the leak
