Haha, not likely. I'll probably end up ordering "tuning for dummies" off of Amazon. As it is, I'll have to borrow my son's gaming laptop to install since I only have macs.

You all are welcome anytime, but Taco shipping is not included. :D

I like your thinking! Might go that route vs. kdmax.

From everything I’ve been researching KDMAX 6.0 is the best out there right now. But than again I don’t really know much about any of them.

For what it's worth, I had the kdmax installed briefly and didn't care for it. Different strokes I suppose, but I found it very touchy around town (gears 1-3), and I had intermittent surging at low speeds. Open kimono, I had the tune removed without doing any trouble shooting, so YMMV. I agree that it does seem to be the most popular one out there at the moment. After reading the thread on the Valley Runner tune and conversing with the author, I figured I would give it a go instead in the hopes that it will address some of the low-speed complaints that I had.

Valley seems to be more of the old guy tune. I'm not looking for jaw dropping speed. I want the transmission to not be stupid, a little more low end grunt and to continue using the regular gas.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I have the KDMAX tune on a MT, installed the day after Sleepy Creek. I have to say that what has been said about 1-3 gears is true, but I actually like the way it responds. I'm not a jackrabbit from the start, but I like the response from the pedal down low in those gears and would imagine if pulling a trailer or climbing an offroad obstacle, it would be helpful. 3-6, the engine responds a little quicker than it did before and handle the mild hills around here much better, not dropping gears like I have on some. I do wish the lower power was there like it was 1-3, and wish it had dome more for the upper end. Overall, the sluggish response is much improved. I have to footnote this with I also added heavier tires three days later and it's my third tank of gas, so still trying to see where the mileage falls in at.

Haven't been here in a while, since i sold the Tacoma.. But I just traded in my STI for this 4runner Trail so I can come play again! I'm so surprised how much more room there is in the 4runner over the Tacos it was a real bummer to see mine go when we found out how tough it was for us with the car seats, problem solved now.

This was my Taco if ya'll recognize it- guy who bought it loaded it up with a trailer and moved to Alska with it.

And if anyone was curious, I've been in this for the last year~ Had to get rid of it after my second ankle surgery this year.

I’m really glad my son wasn’t interested in his new toys. They look better on the truck.
