I would agree. Gonna have to go for the Suns if they go up against the Jazz. None of the 4 left have ever won a Championship.

Anybody have an extra set of alignment tabs/bolts/hardware? Helping a buddy and they are seized into the LCA. Going to have to cut them out.

My parents found a roll of the original fabric for their '96 project used on the seats and interior. They are redoing the seats and found NOS carpet also. They seem to enjoy working on the Tacoma way more than the Defender because parts are much cheaper

First tank fill up came in at 18.7 vs computer indicated 18.2, not bad but also one of the things I didn't miss about the Taco especially with $3 gas.

That's pretty accurate actually, almost within the ±2.5% error margin that fuel pumps have to pass to get certified as OK to dispense gas.

The temptation to start buying mods already is so strong though.:anonymous:

So all dealers have their fees built in when you buy and I was forced to buy a “paint sealant service” . At right Toyota.

I used the first one, even payed for the upgraded service. I was told they have a Scottsdale detailing company come in and do it. Below is the upgraded service I payed extra for.
    image.jpg

There is no way a clay bar touched my truck. There were things still there that I buffed out with my thumb. The swirls are still extremely bad. Swirls and minor scratching from trails. The owner who had the truck before me clearly used auto washes every time. Was waiting for this to start washing using two bucket since there was so many swirls.

I’m going to call the guy at the dealer and be like what’s up dude. I don’t have the tools here to do a paint correction myself like I wish. and I don’t have room to store them once I go off to school if I were to purchase them.

Sad part is they couldn’t even get the “free” part right. The Paint sealant that they used was clearly visible where they did and didn’t wipe it down. As if they used some on the door smeared it around then the next door didn’t use any.

hopefully the dealer attempts to make this right.

I knew it wouldn’t be as good as a normal detail place. But I expected them to at least make an attempt to fake it. The sealant where they did use it makes water bead nicely. Ur the scratches swirls were not even remotely touched.

Probably just a fresh carnuba wax. Maybe, if your lucky. Still a scam IMO.

It was one of those things we said get us out the door under xxxxx price no matter what fees and crap you add. If it’s under that number we drive off tonight. If not we’ll head to the dealer down the road tomorrow that’s got damn near the same truck.

Since we ended up paying for it might as well try it I thought. They did well on the interior though. I had been putting that off for a long time so it’s nice.

One of the oldest "tricks" in the car business. Anything sold in the finance office is pretty much pure profit, and the guy at the finance desk is usually the second best paid guy at the dealership, after the GM. With used vehicles you can usually put your foot down, and if you have the patience, they'll take it off the price, since used vehicles are where they make all their profit. On new vehicles, where there's not much profit in the vehicle itself, they really ramp up the pressure. I've had them tell me I had to pay for anti-theft window etching, their own house-brand alarm, interior protection (literally they use a can of Scotchguard), door edge guards, and other crap, because it had "already been installed". I simply told them I'd wait for them to find my truck at another dealer and have it dealer transferred, or they could remove the items, but I wasn't buying them.

Coming from someone who knows a small thing or two about car detailing, all those 'hype' words in their promotion are very misleading. None of that will fix any of your paint issues.

I do something ~two times more comprehensive on each of my Tacomas every time they are about to go out with a customer.

I can definitely help you out.

I did this for Will @Sixthelement a few months ago.

His paint was in terrible shape, and the truck was delivered incredibly dirty, so this took 2.5 DAYS to do.

PM me (or text me as you have my number) and I'll be happy to swing by and take a look at the paints condition to give you a quote. The condition of the paint determines the level and time of the work done.

Anyone have a cheap place to decompress a strut in the Chandler area? Most places didn't want to just decompress it but wanted to charge me to take it off and was not really interested if I just brought the strut only in.
