They are picking up one of his friends tomorrow and going to beach. Then back here for a sleep over. We have literally been on lock down for 16 months here. Everything is either closed or its wait in a line to get in.... blah blah.

It was delivered but I haven't pipe thread taped the connections or put the wheels on it yet.

Or checked how loud it is compared to the Black Cat with my decibel meter.

I'm grown now and I still wish I had all the legos from my youth. (shh yes I know I'm still young )

Building things with my hands is a lot more satisfying than playing a game.

Morning. I slept in this morning, have to get dentist appointment out of the way, small cavity found during cleaning earlier this year.
After that, dunno for sure but were supposed to be hot out with chance for record high of 105 degrees.

The small tabs have been welded. They look a lot better than if I’d done them.

It sure is nice to be able to turn quality metal - this is a 100+ year old chunk of cast iron that is being turned down to accept a bearing for a new drag saw we're modifying down at the antique equipment club. The material comes off like grey snow; not a chatter or a chunk. And, yeah, I know that's NOT a good set-up, but (1) I'm not a machinist (heck, I don't even play one on tv); and (2) because of the shitty four-position tool holder and odd-ball size of the work, I couldn't come up with another way... and I only have one decent left-hand tool bit, soooo...

About 2 months ago I ask one of our customers who is a regular to give us an estimate on reroofing our house. He said ok. Couple days later he came in and said I'll get by and measure it Friday or Saturday.......haven't seen him in 6+ weeks.

I ask a friend if he knew anybody, he gave me a contact. I text him last week, he said he'd get by. He came Tuesday afternoon, we talked, he measured and said he'd have me an estimate Tuesday night.......haven't heard from him.

I'm not begging him for an estimate, time to move on :frusty:

Customer brought this drawing and material in the other day. I said how long is the side without dimensions? He said just cut the flat plate in half and whatever that is it’ll work. Was 34” so it’s 17”. Done.

He came to get it and said it was wrong. He got confused and it’s supposed to be 27 1/2” wide on the opposite side which was impossible with the material he brought :annoyed:

@Slashaar ,what I was getting at is if my employer posts outside for a machinist position I'll let it be known here.
Outside meaning outside of the company. I know it may be difficult decision for someone to move for employment though.
