Ok, so, implications. The Fed has its back against a wall here. I think they're gonna end up forced to raise rates sooner than expected and the entire economy is gonna be *pissed*.

 

Not really an easy way to explain it easily, but I'll try.

Liquidity problem, banks have too much cash and need assets (treasury). They're swapping cash for assets with the fed daily. More and more organizations are doing this with rapidly climbing dollar amounts. We keep breaking the world record almost on the daily.

 

How do “they” track the X amount being spent? Self reporting?

Reverse repo is when banks send money to the Fed saying "We can't use this, and we can't keep it because it fucks up our collateralization. Give us treasury bonds instead."

755b is nearly twice the previous record ever. There are a TON of banks sending a ton of cash home because there's no use for it.

But reverse repo is a single overnight event. It kicks the can one day.

And its been rising by billions per day for a couple weeks now.

This is a sign that banking entities have a ton of debt obligations they need collateralized and they are rising massively and quickly.

No one knows for sure what that means, but when major banks are on a financial tightrope, that tends to go poorly for everyone else as well.

 

It’s 2021, rockets launch to Mars, to drill soil samples, so another robot can land there, collect the samples, launch from Mars into orbit, to be picked up by another spacecraft that will then return to earth. I think we can figure out a card you gotta scan before any purchase? Point is, if we want it done, it can be figured out.

Also, the banks are now getting .05 on their parked cash from the fed. Which is great, they're making money. But if they have too much cash already how is adding more cash to that pile a good idea? Seems kinda like an infinite loop sort of problem.

 

That 0.05 is new... Wonder what changed.
