I would hold off on claims like that until you ride one. ECU's can make thousands of adjustments a second. Sounds like you don't even know how it works because you can put it in manual mode where you decide when to shift.

Kind of? The clutch starts engaging at a certain RPM and then locks a few hundred RPMs higher than that, so it's like you're feathering it in yourself a little bit. You can still manually clutch if you want, but feathering manually gets weird as it's going through it's slipping but you're also slipping it.. Still clutch normally between gear shifts. I have one on my F800GS and it's great for the stuff I do. Its almost exactly like the centrifugal clutch on the older Honda CT90's/CT110s.

It's real fun pulling up to another motorcycle at a light, keeping it in gear, and then pulling away one handed haha I've gotten some real confused looks.

    Haha I believe it!

I’ve been using cruise around town a little (bad hands) and peeps sometimes look at me funny when I’m stretching or laying in the tank or whatever and the bike keeps going with no hands on the bars but I’d have to chase you down and ask questions as a rider if you took off with no clutch on a bike I know doesn’t have a DCT!

Had a guy roll up behind me on a nice Victory yesterday. I rolled back a hair and said nice bike, he asked if I liked mine, then the light changed and he looked super upset that I didn’t stay to talk with him. Like he was offended by it ha. I was like sorry dude, bunch of two ton boxes of metal behind us waiting to move… he followed me for a bit and peeled off.

I really like talking bikes when people come up to me parked, especially old dudes with cool old stories, but I’ve never had anyone want to hang out in traffic before ha.

Zack Courts rode a DCT Africa Twin in one of his daily rider videos. Don't remember if it was the 2016 or the 2020, but he discusses the ease of the DCT.

Super health beneficial to let your digestive system rest and your body do it’s other things. Peeps always feel better/clearer mentally as well. Keep at it! :)

The DCT surprised me! Haha it was the opposite of my expectations:

    22E6F17F-C07B-47B4-86E1-6F7BEF28D783.jpg DA7965ED-5F31-4E3E-ACD5-500F463E2978.jpg 6C5581C0-ADAA-4D30-8AD7-27EA2CAFB7BE.jpg

The riding experience was taken away from for me. But the slow speed maneuvering . . . Man, I couldn’t get it to stall or pulse or be at all uncomfortable in super slow circles, figure eights, taking off in a turn super slow. It was as smooth as can be at slow speeds.

Obviously feathering a clutch on road vs. hairy off road situation is much different so I’m not sure how a DCT would handle off road. But consider me corrected in thinking that it would be worse for a beginner or anyone who wants to have control / feather the clutch at slow speeds. I had (marginally) more control on the DCT at slow speed than feathering my bike myself.

DCT gets a full pass flying colors for slow speeds from me.

That said, this bike had me laughing in shock the whole time. I was like, man, what kind of circus is this!? Hahah it just felt weird! Like a big Grom or big scooter! And for such a small bike it sure didn’t handle as well as I thought it would. My bike weighs a lot more and is a lot longer it and turns in and rolls back and forth with much more grace and ease. I would totally buy one of these 1100s for the wife as an upgrade to her Grom someday (manual version though) if she liked it. But it did feel like a toy. Chattered a lot like one, too. I certainly wouldn’t compare it to any cruiser. It’s more like a low seat height sport bike moped Grom . . . thing. No clue how to classify it haha.

I hear you. Married life has been “too good” to me. My wife and I both love to cook and we’re usually on the road or busy but with her in school for a couple years we don’t eat and work and work and work and eat. We just . . . Eat. Haha.

I’m trying to cut about 80 lbs off my bike . . . half in parts, half in the rider :D

Creeping over rocks on a 500 lb adv bike is not really possible, it's a bit more speed and suspension but that's just what I find.

But I also have short legs so if I stop I can't paddle/walk through things so I just need to go for it.

I’d actually advise against nutserts for this. People put too much faith in them. They’re made to bend to be installed so they can bend (or strip the threads) just as easy if you over torque or try to use them for something that will see any kind of applied force. Just using the kickstand normally will weaken the nutsert and eventually it’ll just be floppy and unreliable.

Hence the :anonymous: hahaha definitely the wrong thing for the job long term, but in a pinch it'd work for a couple months as long as you aren't pivot turning on it or something.

I thought about Nutserts but as Ghostship stated, they could never fully be trusted for such an important application.

I’m still thinking about what I want to do. Thanks for the help everyone!

Yep, all steel. Sadly, I don’t know how to weld and don’t even know anybody who can. :pout:
