    Mostly stock for now...
I noticed today that my fuel economy display has started going screwy - On the hwy - when I let up on the gas pedal and coast - the bar graph goes to max consumption, When I tromp on the pedal the bar graph goes to minimum - so basically backwards of what it's supposed to do... truck is a 2017 with automatic transmission and 108,000 km -

Just wondered if anyone had run into this before I talk to the stealership - could be sensor, computer or display in the dash... :notsure:

What does it read on the normal gauge cluster when you do the same thing?

That's not fuel consumption, it's fuel economy. Sounds like it's working perfect.

    * fixed * now my post reads fuel economy

    - still the same though - When I'm on the gas pedal driving like a bat out of hell accelerating from that stop light - it shows great fuel economy 0 litres/km - When I'm off the gas pedal rolling down a hill or coasting on the highway it shows horrible fuel economy - all the way to 15 litres /km (I'm in Canada - we do the metric thing...)

It should be displaying km/liter not liters/km. Fuel economy is measured in distance per unit volume. Therefore big number good (coasting) and small number bad (foot in it).

We do it backwards in Canada instead of miles per gallon - its litres /100 km

Ok, I'm with you now. I just went and checked and sure enough in settings there is a L/100km units option along with km/L, mpg US, and mpg imperial.

So, my guess is this is an oversight on Toyota's part. They scaled the fuel economy meter to move from left to right with numerically low on the left and numerically high on the right. This corresponds to mpg or km/L. Then they just adjust the text display for the units and max scale but don't change the bar display since it's all relative. When the units are changed to L/100km the text is all that actually changes and the bar display functions as programmed. This is why it moves "wrong" in this case. The text for the units changes, but the bar is always the same.

Thanks for checking - I just know that for the previous 70,000 km the bar moved in one direction corresponding to throttle input - and today it was reversed... I'll check tomorrow and see if the display is still showing L/100km or if its changed to km/L or mpg

I'll do the same tomorrow and change to L/100km and see if the bar display changes or not.

Tried it. Bar scales correctly in L/100km. Sits full bar to the right in the throttle and shrinks to the left near 0 under light throttle cruise.

So would be odd if yours randomly started working different and you didn't change the units.
