Just bought a 2021 SR5 long bed. Been driving F-150's for 20+ years and the Tacoma seems like a weird cross between a sedan and a half-ton pick-up. Was just quoted $915 for a 3"/1" SST ReadyLift Rock Warrior. Has anybody had any experience with this? As well, anyone with a lift that has had any problems with lift kits? Big question... do I really need the damn thing, and should I just get used to the low-rider?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Obviously you don't NEED a lift. Its personal preference and how you use the vehicle

mines stock and I don't need a lift or want one and I never go off road

I mean, if you're not getting hung up on the trails (to the point you need bigger tires, such are actually what provides the clearance), why bother? More maintenance, shitty MPGs, and no recoup in money upon resale? Nah, I'm good,,, til I get stuck

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
These comments express my sentiments as well. I do go off road, but nothing crazy - usually for a specific purpose - collecting firewood, bring a deer carcass home, etc.
Why deal with all of the BS I read about here if my travels don't require super high ground clearance? Besides, it's my daily vehicle for my business - I need it to be reliable. trouble-free, and reasonably frugal on fuel.

You need one. And big tires. And black wheels.

So you can run with the cool kids down at Sonic.

Or if it does what you need it to now, you can just enjoy it as is.

If your asking that question here then the answer is no, if you are asking about a 3/1 lift then the answer is also no.

Now if you came here and asked whether you'll need a 2.0 vs 2.5 or a 12" vs 14" then we might have a yes in there.

I wanted something to raise my truck but didn’t want to spend north of a thousand for it. Ended up going with a 3/2 leveling kit. Easy to install and let’s the truck look good.

Having come from driving lower cars most of my life, the truck is a step up (pun intended). Go on trails and explore if that's what you're looking to do. If you need a lift, you'll know. I haven't been anywhere yet that I need one, but i have cut it close with plenty of scraping. Bigger question is what are you using it for and should you prioritize other things before the lift.

I say if you don’t need it . Don’t bother ..spend the money on something you need for the truck . If you want a little bit more height in the truck you could just go up a tire size .

Definitely not. Toyota engineered it to do what you're doing (mild offroading and carrying loads), why change that if it works well?

    My 2 cents...
I'm 65 and had a lot of trucks. Mostly 4x4, but some 2WD...
Whenever I gotten a new/different 4x4, I'm always asked 'When are you going to lift it? How high?' .. Or if it's a 2WD ''When are you going to lower it? How low?' ...
My thinking is 'Why in the fuck do I need, or feel like I'm supposed to .. Do anything to it??' I'm happy with they way they came from the factory.
At least for what I need and use them for.
The only rig I ever did any kind of serious lift to (Was just my toy) was a 79' Dodge Power Wagon. The end result was ... All it did was cause other problems. Yeah, it looked bad-ass, but ... Other problems. Which meant throwing more $$ at it.

The reality is, most people aren't using their trucks as trucks. And that is fine. So even less people really NEED a lift. Even a lot of people who go "off road" do so on dirt roads or pretty well defined trails. The Tacoma can do that just fine stock and will probably do a lot better than an F150. Lifting a truck often times goes along with the "need" for a diesel truck and making it run inefficient to make black smoke. It's supposed to make you bigger in the pants.

and having said that, lift it if you want. Do whatever makes you happy.

No, keep it stock. You will save alot of money and a stock truck is awesome. Congrats on the new truck.

Probably don't need to. Could step up one tire size and that will more then likely satisfy the height issue.

Tacoma has more ground clearance than the f150.
