Was the delay when you hit the throttle? I get a delay on mine (could be some slip too) but its annoying. What issues did folks have?

I am pretty much down to try anything but for some reason I did not mess with this

Since you have done this, it would be nice to see what an HP Tuner tune could do to further it some more. Then have that comparison.

Thank you for posting up.

If you'd be interested in a free tune and would be willing to dyno it, I'd love to speak with you. Send me a PM and we can discuss details if your interested.

Correct, there seemed to be a slight lag between hitting the throttle and supercharger engagement. I've read some people would temporarily run lean on tip in after removing it.

Gotcha maybe I’ll give it a go if it hasn’t sucked itself in. that initial lag bugs me

ECU heading to JustDSM tomorrow for tune. Will post the results once I get it back and get it on the dyno.

Had to wait on my dyno guy to get back from vacation, but the results are in! Thanks to @JustDSM for the tune. Before and after tune are the two runs shown on the graph.

Disclaimer: JustDSM said my truck was running leaner than most with the TRD tune, so he had less room to play with the numbers. Therefore I would believe that sets my gains as a low baseline.

End result: 310.7whp and 324.8wtq. So a gain of 16.9whp and 4.8wtq from the tune alone. Gained hp and tq throughout the entire rpm range, but had the biggest gains between 2.5-3.5k rpm and above 4250.

With the tune my a/f ratios are actually safer up to 4.5k rpm (they were around 12) before going rich, and now sit right around 11.5 throughout. Can't complain about having a safer tune while also picking up some extra power!

Again a big thank you @JustDSM for doing the work, and never seeming annoyed when I'd call you up with questions! The guy that dyno'd my truck tunes domestic vehicles as his business, and his words to me were "that's exactly what I would have aimed for if I was tuning your truck, that guy did a good job." Really hard to argue with that. 20210722_183119.jpg
A/F ratio comparison between the TRD tune vs HPTuners/JustDSM's tune. This does a great job of showing how little he had to work with, and how well he stabilized the ratios throughout.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
What was the ambient air temp and R.H. during the second run? I see it was 92F and 45%R.H. on the first attempt.

Did you ever notice your AFRs going lean during boost AND partial throttle with the TRD tune?

Per @Torspd suggested dropping this here. You can see the delta between back to back runs. Ambient temp was ~77°f. Had a bout of heat soak and you can see how much difference it makes.

Mods: Mag s/c with 2.7" pulley, iridium VKH22 plugs, 2.5” AFE exhaust, Aeromotive 340, Ripp coil packs, NST water pump and supercharger pulley

How am I just finding out about this thread now? Any other threads besides the main 4.0L Magnuson supercharger thread I should be aware of?

~40 hp loss. The problem was mainly my plated bumper and blocking a lot of air from the fan. I pulled off my bumper bash plate and temps stabilized. Real world testing the heat soak may be more relatable/noticeable in stop and go traffic but on the highway, air is drawn in at different angles. Though I don't have any measurements until I can further data log with a better tuner hardware. With the current trend of heavy plated bumpers, winches, lights, coolers on coolers, heat soak is not out of this world though.

Im assuming your low temp radiator is positioned behind your plated bumper?? Normally its planted in front of the main radiator, sitting behind the grill; which give access to on coming. Is yours in a different position? Or being blocked? A photo of your setup would help explain

should be the same position but to @jamesepoop its def way worse in traffic or not moving. I get okay flow when on the freeway for sure. I am likely going to move to a hybrid style to get more flow and lighten the load. The winch prob blocks some but not enough to be too bad.

@Camby I only have the Magnuson kit with light mods. My cooling is in the same place as most. The only difference is I have increase reservoir capacity. My prerunner bumper with a front bash plate is mainly to blame in this case. I'm not trying to say it'll be a huge issue for others. It's more for an example of what heat soak can do to power. I already have plans to change some things around like building ducting for directing air and possible zzp intercooler water pump. By the way I'm using an efan set up so that could have contributed.
    20201222_205536-02.jpg 20201203_220558-01.jpg

@nudavinci64 you're fine man. Just showing an example of a problem I created with my set up. And if people were ever curious what it looks like when sitting in between back to back runs does. Temps will stabilize when driving as I was just sitting in the warehouse with one fan directed at the front bash plate. I ended up cheating and removing the front plate to make a couple more post runs but no improvement in power so we just called it a day.

Yah no worries just commenting as well. But truck still sucks at stall/traffic/slow stuff. I was coming back from baja in May and truck was roasting waiting to cross the border. I have my e-Fan i need to install and need to get an upgrade trans cooler and prob still going to get a different bumper.
