Just ordered the tires. I have .75 wheel spacers on the front. Wish me luck!

Can the factory offroad 16" wheels be used if running spacers? or do I have to get 17's with the correct backspacing to clear the spindle.

Spacers are needed with off-road wheels.

Do you know what the minimum size spacer is to clear? 1.25" seems to be the standard spacer people use in general but I don't know about this application. I never thought I would use spacers but I really like these trail edition offroad wheels.

I do not know the specs for the trail editions, but 4.5-4.75 backspacing is what Maxtrac says is minimum.

Anyone hear of someone running the 4runner 20" limited wheels with this lift? The general consensus seems to be that factory wheels don't clear the maxtrac spindles, but people on the 4runner forums say that the backspacing on those is either 4.5" or 4.59" which is in within the parameters of them fitting over the spindle.

This isn't exactly the kind of thing you want to find out you made a mistake about when you go to bolt on the wheels after installing a lift lol.

After years of deliberation, I finally went ahead and ordered a maxtrac spindle lift from Headstrong Offroad. They were every bit as helpful as everyone always says on this forum. Needless to say, I am pretty darn excited :yay:

Yeah man, they put it on their IG page, should be this 27th. I didn't get a chance to make it last month, but I'll be there this time for sure. What all did you get with spindles in the kit?

I've been wanting to draw up a 2" lift spindle, to pair with my Fox ext travel 2.5 coilovers
doing the math in my head i feel it could be a great combination for 2wd adventure trucks

Yeah, honestly they made some with less than 3" lift so we can use coilovers and not be exceeding 4" of lift. Would love to see how it turns out if you can get it done

Good deal! I think I'll be available but something about the dates of that weekend sound familiar. The kit comes with the spindles, DOT approved brake line extensions, rear shocks and blocks! I wasn't thrilled about the blocks but my understanding is those blocks with the spindles won't mess with the TSS system so I'm going to at least just start there.

I'd be all over this. I just installed the maxtracs and still have the stock spindles if you need measurements or want to experiment with them. If you're still in LB I'm right up the street from you

i have all the OEM parts scanned and have already developed aftermarket 4x4 and 4x2 spindles/uprights for the Tacoma for a few companies. My 2" lift idea is original for as much as I can recall

Yeah I'm not to fond of a large rear lift block either, just switched my 2" one to an AAL and added a 1" block. It rides a lot better than it did before now. I'm surprised lifting your truck can effect your TSS? Doesn't make any sense on why doing an AAL would through it off, but a block won't?

Its not so much that its a block instead of an AAL as much as it is the exact amount of lift achieved by the block keeps the TSS system happy. I'm sure that amount of lift can be dialed in with the right AAL or leaf pack but I didn't feel like going through that all at this point.

Also what's the deal with sanding and painting the top of the spindles again? I remember something about them being prone to getting surface rust. What paint did you all use if you did this?
