Call corporate Toyota and send them pics of the screw up for further documentation..

I'd also want to new front springs besides what -MEDH- mentioned above.. Check the threads on the steering knuckle ball joint also.. bet they are a mess from trying to torque that assembly together. Check the drive shaft boots closest to the front Differential for wear/tear.

I'd have them provide the alignment specs that they did on your vehicle with that botched install job.

I'd really pay close attention to any odd front driveline noises when it has been re-installed.

Thanks guys. I felt pretty good after talking to both service managers and the mechanic this morning. They were pretty pissed and embarrassed. They ended up giving me a warranty and no charge alignment for two years. They did spec it all out and said everything looks good.

Really drives nice now. As many have stated in this thread (when installed correctly) the kit feels very similar to stock but tightens up the brake dive and corners some. I love the look - I think this is how all TRDOR Tacos should come. I have a .5 inch rake still. Super happy driving it home tonight.

Anybody have an idea of the expected lifespan difference between these and a 6112/5160 set for a mallcrawler?

Has anyone run these front shock with OME springs instead of stock springs, looks like the TRD shock has 3 circlip positions and the Bilstein 5100 shock has 5 circlip positions. To run OME 885 with Bilstein, I would use the bottom circlip position. I wonder even if I used the bottom position on the TRD shock, would that be too much preload? Anyone knows???

You or someone would need to measure the distance between the two spring cups where the spring rests (top and bottom) for each assembly on the different clip positions you are interested in comparing when the dampener is at full extension.

That should provide the key distance (top of spring to bottom of spring) of the spring cups to compare for a preload comparison.

I put 5100's up front yesterday, set @ 2". Waiting for them to settle before I decide on a rear lift or not. As long as it looks "level" without a rear lift, I'll be happy. Not looking for the Carolina squat....

Makes my 265/75/16 tires look smaller now. :)

OK, I measured it. From the center of lower shock eye to the 1st circlip is almost exactly 10 inches. Who ever has the 5100 laying around, can you please measure your?

And this is the shock hat of the TRD, is it the same as the one on the Bilstein 5100 so it can fit the OME spring? Thanks!

OME springs will sagg, so use you stock coils. Plus OME will make it ride like shit. Bilsteins were designed to be used with the stock coils. One thing is Bolstein gives you a lifetime warranty for the 5100s as long as the stock coils are used.

    A few.
I sometimes wonder why people buy aftermarket "adjustable" front shocks and then install them without using the adjustment? If your gonna order different springs to give u the lift, why not just use the stock shocks. Hell thats what I did years ago on my 2006 tacoma. OME springs installed on stock trd sport front shocks. Worked fine and gave 2" of lift.

I just dropped the truck off at the dealership. Went over everything part by part and page by page in the instructions with the tech. It’ll be ready by 6 today hopefully.

Going in to get my 10k Toyota Care service done tomorrow, so I'll have to see what they charge while I'm there.

So, my high hopes of a problem free install have been dashed. The dealer called and said its taking longer than expected, and they are having a few issues. We are 7 hrs in and so far the fronts are done, and the grill is installed. Still working on rear axle and have not started on calibration or alignment. They did discover I had a tire out round. I’m hoping I’ll have it by Monday.

So this makes me wonder, do you have to pay an extended labor cost for them to learn how to install a lift kit on your truck?

I dont get it. its 4 shocks and a 1" block. This is almost entry level install kit. the grill is a 10min job. That dealer must have just pulled people from the street to install it
