Settings could be changed to the ones needed for the AT&T network. When we tried to save the settings, got a message that the user was not authorized to update the settings. Didn't appear to really be unlocked. Returning it.

I think this is my month to have all kinds of electronics problems.

Nakamichi audio went out on the LX.

HVAC controls LEDs and button lights went out. Nobody will work on the HVAC controls or the head unit. Bought a set of Land Cruiser (simpler design) controls to get the HVAC back in order.

Needed to replace the Nakamichi head unit. OEM speakers are 2 ohm. Needed a different amp to run 2 ohm speakers. Screw the factory speakers. Subwoofer will mostly be covered up after I install the drawer box.

Replacing the head unit with a Kenwood DMX907s.

Replacing the speakers and amps with Fosgate The Punch. Installing a Fosgate sub/amp in a box behind the front seats on the floor.

My pixel shuts off from overheating often. I have to keep it in my pocket while driving here in az now or it'll shut off.

Yay electronics! Aren't they great. Fantastic when they work and completely unrepairable 95% of the time because not enough people know enough to diagnose.

So just the lights went out on the HVAC? Still worked otherwise? Might be an easy fix.

Factory speakers are always trash, its easy enough to get decent sound out of them that manufacturers won't spend an extra dime to make them better.

Should be good when its done.

All of the HVAC in my taco is mechanical cables. It makes me so happy.

If it just happened at random, something is probably toast inside. They can get a little weird if you let the battery run down too low. I have an android tablet that I have to leave on the charger for a couple of days and then hold down the power button to get it to go, and it usually takes a good 10 tries.

Lights and LED displays went out. Still worked otherwise. Lots of complaints from owners that changing settings requires drivers to take eyes off the road. The units are apparently fragile. I had to remove it and bezel to get behind it. Must have had a wire or something on the edge of breaking.

It could have been worse. I could have had a Mark Levinson sound system with weird-shaped even more proprietary stuff to replace.

Interesting. Maybe a dc-dc converter inside failed.

I've noticed that about Lexus HVAC - its got way too many buttons. My mom has been driving her ES330 for like a decade now and still has to think about which button to press, even though 99% of the time she can just hit Auto and be done.
