It's probably wrong, but in my mind swapping a corporate cousin should be easier. The wildcard is the sheer amount of aftermarket support an LS has might offset that, or be even easier.

One less LS swap isn't bad either imo.

Anyone consider fitting a steam engine in their taco? Like, you could load bed with nice dry wood and never have any worries other than making it to the next water tower.

I'd just sell it to Carvana as is.

    I'm sure it's worth at least $30k

I thought it’s a given on TW that loading bed with material is the wrong way to go. Gotta rent that small trailer.

I don’t think ceramic coat helps for the peeling. Certainly should help for sun fading though.

Doesn’t help for the peeling for sure. I was referring to protecting the thin ass paints we have nowadays.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
So it's not that I don't believe the OP, but I do find it suspicious that all of these threads about catastrophic failures are always started by new, low post count accounts. Usually nothing is ever resolved and the community never gets any closure. Are we sure that it ins't the Ridgeline forum messing with us, or even @smitty99 coming back to haunt us?

    Anyway, happy Friday. Here's Wonderwall.

Plenty of people don't bother looking for internet forums and shit unless they have a problem.

I think if the hard core cultists had their engine blow up they'd never admit it. It's like when I was a Rolls and Jaguar mechanic none of these rich guys would ever admit to their country club buddies their vehicle was in the shop for a major repair. Until they run into each other surprised staring at a hole where their engine use to be.

Oh number 5 exhaust valve burnt, second one this month. Customer i'm sure glad she still runs because having a flat bed show up to the neighborhood would be not a good look. Well never mind that they nuked the cats driving it over.

Glad I sold my 3rd gen. I can’t believe I see engines failing at 150K.

My 2nd gen went to 200k, and it was still going strong.

You should be glad that every single 4.0 and 2.7 ever put in a second gen is still on the road, otherwise your post would be pretty fucking stupid.

Of course vehicles are going to be wrecked or get totaled for other reasons.

there are supercharged 2.7,3.4 and 4.0s with 200K miles.

the 3rd gen is the worst Toyota vehicle since the Tercel.

The third gen will go down in history as the vehicle that led Toyota down a long road towards default. 30 years from now you will see

I read in the engine unveiling document Toyota put out that the block can't be re-sleeved or honed since the aluminum block is cast around set steel sleeves. My guess is it's going to be an issue with timing failure. This engine is supposedly non-interference so we'll see. I'm gonna tear into it, that's really my only option. I'm hoping its some stupid minor thing that makes me look like an ass in front of this whole thread, that would be all good with me.

Let's see if that lower is still good then rebuild with some shiny bits :fingerscrossed:
