You see, that might make the most reasonable sense. Maybe even the most financial sense. But I've already made too many unreasonable financial decisions getting too attached to this thing and it's fucking me.

Love the truck, but sorry that short snorkel actually made me chuckle.

Lots to unpack on this. On top of mating to the transmission,. Computer controls. Lots more work than just throwing a new engine in and calling it a day

Well on these TV channels they make it look so easy in 30 minutes they're done. Depending on where the OP is it won't pass an emissions check. Plus one would be putting it in a ho hum platform, where everything else needs to be thrown away

Weighs 500# also, so unless someone is doing a solid front axle swap they might as well start with a better vehicle like a square body

    Yeah.
Lots going on here. Short snorkel, hood vents and pins, plenty of other cosmetic stuff. Any more to the story we don't know about?

The 3rd gen engine isn't a new engine and is used across both Toyota and Lexus models. But all brands will have failures. I don't see any evidence of a trend.

Interested in what you find when you start pulling it apart!

Good looking truck. Why the hood retainer pins? Just asking because I have not seen them on these trucks before.

Sorry about your problems, with so many 3rd gens hitting high 200k miles, it's sad to see this happen to yours. But no truck is immune to this and I have seen so many failures from many different trucks.

Sorry to hear OP. Not sure what I'd do in your shoes. It all depends on finances. Cut bait or LS/1tons?

I would try to do something crazy like a 2.7 ecoboost or an LS1 v8 before I spent $8000 on that underpowered 2.8 cummins lol

We are at special point in time where you can charge 100% above previous market prices or retail and still get money.

may want to keep the curiosity for the cats and make some money. The total revenue may even cover the original cost of the truck.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Unless the OP is Chip Foose, in terms of both skill and resources, I’d sell the truck as is. Bet he comes close to breaking even.
