i like the iphone and the operating system it is on :) i wish it would have been exclusive to verizon when it was first made, and i also think that imho the only thing missing is a removable battery. like i can get a second battery for my droid for like 10 bucks on ebay. OEM too

Hopefully, they'll come out and some of you guys will get them as soon as they come out. I'll be waiting to hear some feedback about them (Verizon iphone).

For me, I've never had a data phone - so I can't compare. My sister-in-law has one and absolutely loves it. My husband wants one because he see's his coworkers that love it (compared to his blackberry). I'm sure I'd be happy with any of the phones (I was briefly checking out the Fascinate - just in case the iphone didn't make it). Ease of use is important to me. Besides...I currently have 2 ipods & a phone. I could sell one of my ipods and just use the phone. But like anything else....if reviews suck, I won't touch it.

While I do not have an iPhone - I do support different professionals and business owners who do, so I have to be savy with the iCrap.

First problems I've come across is it dumping POP/SMTP settings for email accounts. The has generally been to dump the email account and set it up again.

Second, Doctors. They tend to like "tech" stuff so they have these little devices by the droves. Some of the medical programs aren't as well written as they should be so they lock up the iPhone. Ever try to reboot a locked up phone you can't remove the battery from?? While I understand it isn't Apples fault for the crappy program, the non-removable battery is their fault.

Third, Apple and wireless. I've had to revamp all the wireless keys around most of my client's networks because of the iPhones problems working with WEP and WPA passwords.

So; besides the cost, Nazi-like control of Steve Jobs, and the excessive amount of programs that are complete junk - I'm going to pass on the iPhone. I'm looking forward to my upgrade so I can get a Droid.

You, as well as most, do not know that there is a hard reset for the phone. Try it the next time you come across one. You simply hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button. I still do not see the need of a user removable battery. Think about it. The more you drop it, the looser that battery door will get because it is going to pop off. Have you seen the mechanisms that hold down the batteries in the latest smart phones? They are either hard to get to if you do not have finger nails or idiots keep snapping the doors back on incorrectly and breaking the guide rails. I see this a lot. Sure, it is preference. Some points people argue about a user removable battery are: extra batteries (where the hell are you going that there will not be a power outlet? Even if you are not, I am sure there are no cell towers).

I have not ever had any issues with my iMacs, MacBook Pros, iPhones or iPod Touches and wireless networks. I have used WEP, WPA, and WPA2 as well. I am not saying you don't know what you are doing. I am saying find the correct way of doing it.

What makes you think the Adroid Market is better than the iTunes Store? Junk programs? Are you referring to the apps? The Android Market also has these apps and are also free. I would feel much better paying for an app that I know was approved by someone than get one for free that was unapproved.

And why a Droid? That thing is already ancient compared to the 20 new Android phones that just got released.

    Food for thought.

So how do you really feel Viet? :D

Honestly, I believe all camps (iOS, Android, RIM, Palm, etc.) have their own share of strengths and flaws. And there are crap apps in all markets. It all boils down to user preference really. I've had my iPhone for about a yr and a half now and I can definitely say that I won't be going back to a phone with less capability than this (i.e. like my former rugged Sanyo flip phone, which I loved btw). Once my current contract's up, I wouldn't object to trying out another smart phone just to see what it was like.

You don't grasp what the doctors are using the phones programs for - so I know your not in that part of the industry. I provide tech support at all levels for a small regional hospital, three vets offices (which are more advanced than most small hospitals), three doctors offices, and alot of small businesses.

I'm going to refer you to the above. Besides that I've worked with Apple support on the issue for a couple of my customers.

You asked for someone else's experiences instead of opinions off of a quick hands-on... I gave you my professional opinion after working with different Apple products in a business environment for over a year. Maybe I should of qualified my statement a little more in my original posting. I don't support 14 year old texting or sending pics. I'm not some 2 week training course idiot from a phone store retailer. I have been working with end user support and network management for the last three years and am currently working on my bachelors in networking and communications management. At the completion of this I'm also going to be testing for my Cisco CCNA and moving on to the CCNP studies so I can get my certification at that level.

As for my saying I want a Droid - I meant the latest Android phone that is available when I come up for renewal.

What are your credentials for your opinion/bashing of others?

I do not need to know what the doctors use them for. But I have helped out some with medical apps for their iPhones/iPads. Mainly students and pharmacists that need the apps with all of their needed medical information. I do not see the relevance of your answer as to why someone can't simply hard reset the iPhone....

As for my experience to our topic... I have owned them all. I have used them all. Macs since 2000. Windows since 1998. I have been working in retail for 4 years. 2 of selling, and the past 2 years in the project team (setting up and maintaining). I go to different stores within the company to set them up and troubleshoot them. I am also working on my Bachelors in information and systems management. I love photography and cars and know much more about those. I am 21 yrs old. So do I qualify?

At least I know your not a shake-and-bake sales person with a couple months of experience. As for the doctors hard resetting thier phones - they can, they just get annoyed and pissed when something isn't available instantly. When they have to recharge their phones within their 24 hour shift they tend to get cranky. These are just things I have noticed while I'm taking care of my business around them. The Android OS phones haven't had the same problems with locking up, dumping settings, and battery life. I have seen reports of bad battery life - but alot of that seems to have been on the earlier Droid phones.

I think Verizon is going to get the iPhone but what a lot of people dont think about is this. If you think about how many people came over to AT&T for the iPhone (a shit load of people) it overwhelmed the network which is why the network is so bad. When the iphone gets released on Verizon i'll bet tons of people are going to switch over from AT&T to Verizon and given Verizons current amount of subscribers plus what the iPhone is gonna produce. There is no way that Verizons network is going to be able to handle the iphones nearly as well as AT&T and since a lot of people will be switching from AT&T that will free up a ton of bandwidth on the network and make it way better.

I believe Verizon's network wont be able to handle it, also on the Verizon network you cant make a call and do anything data related

    +1

People don't know what they are talking about when they say AT&T sucks. They don't understand how bandwidth works. Verizon might be OK, though. They have been upgrading their network to handle this and even hired new workers to handle the new subscribers.

    -1 :)
I have owned phones from all the carriers in CA - sometimes two carriers at once. Verizon's customer service and coverage is far superior within the confines of the US. When you go 'world' att is great. Verizon's infrastructure is rooted in the 'wire line' side (the att bells - ironic huh?).

My work places crazy needs on being reachable more than most. I can be in some of the most remote places and still get service...

One last funny thing - I picked up a Tmobile phone (had a Verizon account at the same time). 3 months later, I canceled my account - the woman said that there was a 200 or 300 dollar cancellation fee, I leaned in to the counter and whispered - "It will be the best money I ever spent!!!" :)

If it helps with cred... I was responsible for licensing the first alpha paging /cel phone (what we now call 'texting' in 1991

I am not sure what your argument is about? I said Verizon should be fine with the iPhone on its network...

As for coverage, you should know where you'll be using your phone before you pick a carrier.

Argument? I didn't hear argument. I just think At&T sucks. Customer service sucks and coverage sucks - that's all. :)

As far as using it. I travel to remote areas in many states... :) Overall VZ does coverage better including the places that the weaker carriers have good service.

IMO, it's too late for Apple to regain their once-possessed market share. The droid market is laughing all the way to the bank. Going AT&T only is soon to be a regret for Apple.
