Can anyone with wheel spacers share some feedback? I would like to know what are some cons to installing wheel spacers. I know not to go with some cheap ones but other than that is there anything negative about them? I like the look they add.

one con is maintenance. You should check the torque specs every few months or every oil change.

I've had my spidertrax on for about 6000 miles and have had zero issues. If you have the money, the best way to do it is just get wheels with the backspacing you want.

I didnt have the budget for new wheels at the time so I opted for spacers. Someday I'll upgrade wheels but for now the spacers are fine.

Here's another thread on it, i think there's a bigger one but I cant find it right now - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/anyone-put-wheel-spacers-on-a-3rd-gen.496705/

Reading through the forums, it seems the concensus is to use either bora or spidertrax. Going cheap could cause dangerous conditions (never personally happened to me). I used spidertrax on my second gen, and I'm using them now on my 3rd gen. I've had them on for about 6mos without any issue on my 3rd gen. Like a previous comment said, just make sure they are re-torqued/checked every 5k miles or so.

you get what you pay for is the only advice I could give. I don't run spacers

The only con is to let someone tighten your wheels/rotate that won’t use a torque wrench… which is likely everyone but yourself.

reason- all the horror stories you hear are either talking about spacers without lugs (the kind you still use your factory lugs), only now you have less thread engagement. The other thing you’ll hear is broken lugs/wheels flying off, which is an install failure (if you over torque any bolt, impact especially, eventually it breaks!)

moral- rotate your own tires and use a torque wrench

Don't know the laws in the US but in Canada you can get a ticket if your tires stick out past the body. That's why fender flares are on certain vehicles.

Didn't know that. Half the trucks in Florida would be getting pulled over daily if we had that law here.

Doubt it. It might be the law but no one really cares. It's the kind of thing they'd maybe add onto other charges if they're having a bad day but there are so many trucks here with ignorant offset that stick out 8" past the fender. License plate frames and covers are also technically illegal, but again, it's not something they're gonna bust you for on its own.

I was told that spacers could result in extra stress on wheel bearings. Maybe so, but I would think not likely to result in a failure in a reasonable time.

This! Same downside I knew of, although, I have run them on multiple cars and never had an issue, but it can happen
