I'm an offroading noob but I'm ready to dive in. I think starting with some light beginner trails would be best.

Anyone have any plans for June and looking for an extra person? I'm willing to drive a few hours if needed. My truck is craving the trails!

Welcome to Nashville. I'm about an hour south in Shelbyville but fairly new to the area as well. If you find some easy/moderate local trails to explore let me know I've been looking for some. There is a few off road parks in the area but none I've found I will take my daily to.

SO while we're on this subject, I am also moving to TN in August. Moving to Murfreesboro. Refugee from California. I am originally from NY so I am used to the humidity and look forward to having somewhat 4 seasons again.

Truck is still stock but I have had many easy / moderate trail runs in the desert out here! Really looking forward to discovering off grid camping spots, rivers, lakes to potentially kayak, tube etc! Any insight? I'm fixin to start marking spots on Gaia.

Also looking to organize or help organize some events out there, camping, shooting etc.

I haven't done any offroading yet, but I've been doing a lot of reading and researching and also buying small supplies and equipment here and there. I use the paid Layers in Gaia to scope out trails..... a lot of them are in Eastern TN.

I want to find a beginner trail that'll take a few hours to complete.

Yea seems like East TN is where the most trails are. There is an off-road park south between Murfreesboro and Chattanooga but it looks like very technical. There does look to be some nice camping spots in Middle TN though..Some with outdoor gun ranges also.

I'm in Bowling Green, about 70 miles north of Nashville and also recommend LBL. I'm not a hard core offroader but enjoy exploring the Forrest service roads at LBL. Last time I was there they had closed up some of the FS roads and read somewhere they were cracking down on off offroading with the exception of designated areas like Turkey Bay Offroad Park.

Land Between the Lakes.... got it. I'll have to check it out. Maybe I'll hit some of you guys up. I'm fully stock right now but I have deflators/compressor, MaxTrax, shovel, snatch rope, and some other stuff...

https://www.landbetweenthelakes.us/seendo/trails/turkey-bay/ oh wow their site is pretty good. They even offer PDF maps that you can import into the Avenza app.

Yea, also seems like socal has the largest amount of activity on TW. There are Tacos everywhere out here, I've been on trail runs with up to 50 toyos, meets up to 100....Still would not make me stay in CA unfortunately lol...oh well...

In TN, I think folks are all about their Chevrolet, Dodge, and Ford...lol

The campsites in TN look way nicer though, next to lakes and no campfire restrictions!

Any dispersed camping options in Middle TN? I started getting into backpacking, but it's no fun when you gotta carry ALL of your water with you and can't have a campfire...

For dispersed in middle TN LBL is your best bet. Unless you want to head to the smokies or maybe Chattanooga? Not sure what’s out there

Nice! We'll see if I actually miss the desert. Looking forward to greenery, rivers, outdoor shooting ranges, and a city and state which will me make proud to live in. :D

    Stock, 4WD, Access Cab, White,
    Adventure in TN is easy.

Just head East into the Smokies. Turn off the 4 lane onto 2 lane black top, turn onto a gravel road.....keep following until you come to a dirt road, turn onto the dirt road.....keep going until the road changes to a grass lane or quits. Shift into 4WD, ramble around in the woods. When you smell a hardwood fire......then you are close to an adventure.

    Ignore the banjos.

Sounds like LBL will be my new go-to! Looks beautiful and lots of campsites on the water!

    What about Cheatham wildlife area?
