I know one of you psychos actually weighted the factory tonneau and bed mat. What numbers did you come up with?

it's petty, but the truck feels more lively w/o those two installed and I like that feeling, except under heavy braking in which, it I like them there.

    Thanks all, Happy Father's Day.

I think this is between your ears. Can you tell a difference in performance when a passenger is riding with you vs when you're in the truck alone? Not exactly sure how much the cover and mat weigh, but it would be about the same difference. I have a cap, that weighs about 180 lbs. There is no difference with or without it.

This!! Not enough weight difference to make a difference.

My Bakflip G2 weighs 73 lbs. Between the Bedrug bed mat and my oval step rails, maybe another 45 lbs max. If I could feel a performance difference after these were installed I'd be concerned that the truck would react negatively to such a small weight addition. I don't feel a thing. You shouldn't either. All that said, a very happy Father's Day to you as well

All i know theres gotta be at least the weight of a grown adult between the factory tonneau cover and mat. The cover itself really needs 2 persons to remove and install it.

    100# + /- 10%

    Prove me wrong.

PS. 10# of wt loss = about 1hp gain. So taking off 100# is similar to adding 10HP.

Think about that when considering a 'build'. Or when heading into a burger joint.

The OEM bedcover is around 60LBS. The Rubber mat is around 10lbs. So, 70lbs just sitting in the back does make it ride a tad different. My guess is you are feeling the suspension having a tad more bounce bak without the 60 - 70 pounds of weight. I notice the same thing.

I don't think so...between both its much heavier. My mat alone had to be at least 30 lbs.

Bed mat is around 40 lbs and the tonneau cover from factory is a little more I think.

I'll agree with the bed mat weight, but the factory tonneau cover on my truck is one heavy sob.

Would you show web links for your formula?

10lbs of rotational weight (wheels) roughly equates to 100lbs of chassis weight.

I remove the factory tonneau by myself all the time. I would bet it weighs maybe 50 lbs max.

It's just a weight to HP ratio calculation. The reason I said 'about' is because it can vary sightly depending on what was started with.

Obviously wt reduction doesn't create HP, it just 'feels like' there is more HP. And it's a real feeling, because the wt/hp ratio has improved.

The 1 HP number I used was based on my SCCA days running stock a stock powered Miata. Even Mazda engineers were always looking to 'add lightness', in search of grams.

My back estimates the factory cover to be 55-60lbs.
