I’d rather see relegation for umpires. Players are already accountable. More like pro soccer where the worst go to the minors and new blood gets a chance. Teams go through funks and have bad luck but rarely fail to turn things around eventually. Hit below .200 and you don’t last long. Bad strike zones are for life. At least some kind of grading/testing where they can see what they’re repeatedly getting wrong even if it’s not made public. I don’t think the post season is enough of a carrot since there isn’t a stick.

 

The Mariners swept Tampa Bay. It always blows my mind when they can beat pretty decent teams but can't even score against the worst teams.

Awesome to see that the Giants took two of three against the Phillies, reinforces how happy I am that we didn't end up getting Harper! That guy's got no class... I do miss McCutchen tho

 

I thought it was pretty cool how they mixed the broadcast crews so that it was both more informative and less homey. The other teams crew will have a better idea of their players, how they’re doing, and how they’re adapting as the season goes on. Stuff you can’t get from stats but only by watching them day in day out. John Kruk is a riot.
