    @Taco critter

    Haven’t seen a single cicada since they came out of hibernation, but I was driving on 309 in Quakertown last weekend I had the windows down and I definitely heard them; Today, I nailed on 309 while heading into the outskirts of Quakertown and it left a huge orange streak on the windshield.

    At first, I didn’t realize it was a cicada, but then another flew past my truck while I was waiting at a red light; Then, I saw a dying cicada in the parking lot of Wawa when I stopped to get cash from the ATM. When my dad went golfing with friends in Quakertown a few weeks ago, he said there were dead ones everywhere.

    We were living in Northern Virginia (specifically Centreville in Fairfax County) when these 17-year cicadas made their last appearance in 2004; My dad had recently completed his masters as ICAF and was working at the Pentagon (we lived in Centreville from 2002 to 2005).

    My parents’ house had been built in 1989, and the last appearance of the cicadas had been in 1987; When the neighborhood was built, they obviously did a lot of digging and excavating, and the cicadas that had burrowed in 1987 were displaced.

    My aunt and uncle lived about 20 miles away in Vienna (also Fairfax County); Their house had been built in 1981 so the cicadas had a chance to resettle, and as a result their yard was full of them!

    My cousin and I would spend hours in the yard swatting at the cicadas with tennis rackets (Burning ants with a magnifying glass is fun, but you can do that anytime; Playing cicada tennis is much more special because they only come out every 17 years!).

    My parents’ current house was built in 2016, and most of the houses around were built way after 2004 so again the cicadas were dug up and displaced…

    However, I have to say that killing lanternflies is more fun because while cicadas freak me out, they are not an invasive species; Spotted Lanternflies are harmless to people and animals, but they are an invasive species that destroy trees, so they must be dealt with accordingly!

    Good morning; Decided to go with stock front bumper, but I’m going with a Toyota OEM unit. The insurance company of the woman who hit me in the parking lot last September would only pay for an “aftermarket” (looks like a Toyota bumper but it’s not) bumper…

    This a new incident; First at-fault accident in YEARS. Obviously letting my insurance deal with the other driver’s vehicle, and gonna pay out of pocket to fix my truck.

    Also, a cicada landed on my shoulder today when I was at a car show; I flicked it off (didn’t kill it), and it actually screamed!

    Also, what’s the status on your frame replacement? I think I’m gonna end up lucking out on mine; If it rots out in another half-decade or so, by then I’ll have enough money to buy a newer Taco or possibly even a Tundra! However, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that my mechanic Pete could do a frame swap on my truck for way cheaper than the dealer would charge if it’s out of warranty!

    No real updates, I'm supposed to get a call when the new frame arrives.

    I'm getting my frame professionally treated if the Toyota dealer won't do it.

    I am NEVER bringing my truck to H&R Radio in Warminster again, nor will I ever recommend any of my friends (or even my enemies) take their vehicles there for any type of work; I just found out the other day, three months after they put in the cruise control, that the steering column casing was not put back together properly.

    I just bought a Westin E-series bull bar in black for my truck, along with a license plate bracket so I can put one of my novelty plates on the front.

    @ColoradoTJ
    @shakerhood

    This is something I just remembered from YEARS AGO. We were still living in the townhouse in Furlong, so it was sometime in or before 2015. It was definitely AFTER April 2013 because I had the Pioneer stereo in the truck. I believe I was already working at Puck, and I may have actually been coming home work. I was totally sober and driving myself home, so I must have been coming home from work…

    I was in a really good mood, blasting music with the windows down and driving like an idiot. I drifted the truck into a right turn and screeched the tires, which attracted unwanted attention from some drunk guy standing on the sidewalk just ahead.

    I stopped at the stop sign and this third party interloper says “Slow down, buddy!” or something to that effect, and it killed my good mood; I responded by shouting “Don’t tell me how to drive!” before screeching away from the stop sign. He said something but I didn’t hear him…

    I parked my truck in the driveway and went in, then I realized I had to get the mail; I believe my parents were away for the weekend. I may have been bringing the garbage cans in, but whatever I was doing it required me to go back outside. I went outside and saw that the aforementioned third party interloper was standing outside my house, staring at my distinctive silver truck parked in the driveway; He then noticed me and started staring at me. He stood there staring at me for close to a minute before walking away…

    And that’s not the only time a drunken bystander has decided to stick their nose where it doesn’t belong with regards to my driving…

    The second time it was a busy night at Puck and I had just gone on an ice run; I’m thinking this was 2016 or 2017, maybe 2017…? We were swamped and the icemakers just couldn’t keep up. I pulled into the parking lot a little too fast, and a mix of bouncers and other barbacks came out to help me unload the ice.

    I brought a few bags into the bar and when I came out, a guy who lived across the street got in my face and started lecturing me about my driving; Specifically, it was how I’d come in too fast and “gotten air” pulling into the parking lot…

    I was busy that night and to say I wasn’t in the mood was an understatement; I basically told him to pound sand and mind his own business. He just wouldn’t leave it alone; He was insistent that he’d seen me go airborne pulling into the parking lot, and just wouldn’t leave it alone. One of the bouncers could tell I was about to blow my stack at the guy and made him leave.

    I later went over to his house where he was still drinking on the porch with his friends, and apologized; All was good after that, but seriously…
