I've got a snug top high liner on my 2010 AC. I just bought the truck used and the topper came with it so I didn't buy the topper. It has a carpeted interior.
I am in the process of planning and building a slide in a sleeping platform/storage drawer set up. I am wondering if there is any great way to mount anything on the interior of the topper. I have got some velcro strips that I may attach to some small LED lights for light in the bed. Not sure how well that will hold up. Any ideas of how else I could attach items to the interior without drilling through the fiberglass? It would be nice to have a cargo net on the ceiling or maybe some paracord across the ceiling to hang misc items (keys, water bottle etc.). Thanks!

Mounting the Yakima, Thule, or Rhino Rack tracks is a great way to hang an interior gear hammock, and give you some roof top storage as well. It would require drilling through the topper which you said you aren't wanting to do, but it really is super simple and easy to waterproof with some silicone caulk. IF you're not comfortable with it, most topper shops do roof track installs.

Velcro will hold smaller, lightweight items but as noted, you'll need to drill if you want to mount anything more substantial. The carpet in most shells isn't particularly high quality so you won't want to remove it much as it's going to start pulling/tufting/whatever you call it when it it starts getting fuzzy quickly in my experience. I've got a pair of small hooks with a Velcro tab that I picked up somewhere as well as a small pouch with Velcro on the back.

There are several threads on how to install roof rack tracks and also showing using picture hangers or other rings under the mounting nuts. You still don't want to hang much weight but I've put a sleeping bag or clothing up there to dry/air out.

Hey @Bajatacoma can you point me to those threads that have info about hangers under mounting nuts? I’ve been snooping around and haven’t found ‘em.

Also, you are a lucky guy to live near Baja with a taco if that’s the case!

    Thanks man.

I think the hanger discussions were in some of the threads on installing the tracks. Most of us used something like the D-ring picture hangers, example: https://www.homedepot.com/p/OOK-75-lb-Large-Steel-D-Ring-Hangers-2-Pack-50207/100058482
You'll have to open up the hole furthest from the ring just a little in order for the factory bolt to fit, a step drill bit makes this easy. I thought I had a picture on this computer but I can't find it.

I actually live in SC but have used that name on several vehicle forums since the late '90s after my first trip to Baja in my old 1st gen Tacoma (I know I used it on my ebay account starting in '99). Most of those old forums are long gone at this point. The current truck has been out west but I haven't taken it down to Baja yet, hopefully one day when/if all this stupidity ends.

Awesome. Thanks a bunch. Hope you make it back to Baja sooner than later!
